Simply put, the type of chainsaw file you need directly corresponds with the size of your chain pitch. The larger the pitch will mean the higher the cutting teeth will be. The higher the teeth will therefore mean the larger the file will need to be.
Choose the Correct File Size

There are three common sizes of chainsaw files: 5/32, 3/16 and 7/32. Select the correct size for your chain. Check the owner`s manual or the label on the original box for the correct file size. The specifics for the chain are printed on the side of most guide bars.

McCulloch recommends “Universal powered by McCulloch two-stroke oil”. The petrol/oil ratio must be 50:1.
A chainsaw chain can be sharpened up to 10 times, sometimes more, before the entire chain needs replacing. It`s mostly dependent on two things; the amount of wear your chain incurs and the amount of metal removed every time you sharpen. Different materials can have a harder impact on the chainsaw chain.
