Check fuse behind battery seen to be ok.
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
When you say won’t start? Does it turn over and not start or is there no click spin or anything.. Check your battery for its state of charge..if your charging system is faulty the mower will run on battery power only for a while but eventually will not have the power to run the engine..Have the battery charged and trynto start..if it dies it is the charging system..if it still does the same thing..it most likely is one of the safety switches that will not allow the engine to run went. bad..it is a long porcess to check them out..better to have a specialist look at it.. If is a spin but not that is another issue…best to put a separate question on here explaining exactly what is going on..will be watching fir your question. Good luck..

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Loose, Dirty or Disconnected Spark Plug in Your Lawn Mower: Check it out, clean off debris, re-connect and tighten. Dirty Air Filter: Clean or replace. Fuel Not Reaching the Engine: Tap the side of the carburetor to help the flow of gas. If this doesn`t work, you might need a new fuel filter.
Why Is My Lawnmower Turning Over But Not Starting? If you pull the cord and hear your engine turn over, but your mower is not starting, the most common reasons for this are low fuel, a broken gas valve, or a bad choke fault. A broker spark plug could also be the culprit.
Check/clean/tighten all connections on battery/solenoid/starter/Ignition switch and neg(-) cable to frame or motor. Check to ensure all safety features are working properly and not engaged. Check for an inline fuse, bypass solenoid to see if engine cranks if it does replace solenoid, if no crank replace starter.
A Dirty Carburetor Can Cause a Lawnmower To Start Then Die

By far, the most common issue that causes a stalled motor is a dirty carburetor. The carburetor on your engine is the thing that draws in air and mixes it with the fuel. Contrary to what the movies might make you think, gasoline itself is not very flammable.

As the fuel level drops, a vacuum begins to form in the fuel tank because air can get in to fill the space the consumed fuel occupied. After about 10 or 15 minutes, the vacuum will become strong enough that fuel will stop flowing to the carburetor and the lawnmower will die.
Use Carburetor Cleaner

Fortunately, you can generally do this without even taking the carburetor out of the engine. Start by purchasing some commercial lawnmower carburetor cleanerOpens a new window, which comes in a simple spray can and will make it easy to clean the inside and outside of the carb.

A full gas tank and oil reservoir are the essential first steps when checking why the lawn mower won`t stay running, but the problem could also be a dirty filter, clogged carburetor, improper fuel mixture, or a dirty spark plug.
Another reason a mower might start and then stop is that the air filter becomes blocked. If this is the problem, then it`s good news because it`s easy to fix since most mower filters are cleanable. Check to see if the filter is blocked and clean as necessary – then try again to see if this has solved the problem.
Other things that could cause this issue are bad fuel, weak/colapsed/kinked fuel line, faulty spark plug, faulty ignition/coil, oil over full, clogged air filter, plugged/dirty carburetor, worn engine parts internal rings/valves/etc.
A dirty air filter is one of the most common causes of a poorly running lawn mower, since it starves the engine of the oxygen needed for combustion. Fuel Filter: Check the fuel filter on the mower to make sure it`s clean, and replace it if needed.

I have trouble starting a toro walk behind mower
ANSWER : All, I thought my carb was shot, so I replaced it. Still, start but no run (and had to use starting fluid). THEN!!! I noticed the spring to the “rev limiter” (just below and towards rear of carb) was not “tight”. The stupid bracket that holds the end of that spring had been bent down ~1/16″ and that caused all this heartache. CHECK YOUR REV LIMITER!!!

Wont start I charged the battery and all I’m getting is a clicking sound when trying to start
ANSWER : Your battery is junk. Replace it. Lead/acid batteries lose about 1% of their charge per day, so in 90 days of non-charging they are basically discharged. This is a bad thing. When winter comes, put a smart trickle charger on it, or at least once a month put a non-smart trickle charger on it for a couple hours or an afternoon so you keep it charged up.I love/hate batteries.
