For products with two-stroke engines, the petrol must be mixed with two-stroke oil. McCulloch recommends “Universal powered by McCulloch two-stroke oil”. The petrol/oil ratio must be 50:1.
Mixing Your Fuel

Your strimmer runs off a mix of semi-synthetic 2-stroke oil and unleaded petrol (40:1). Our petrol tools come with a measuring jug with guide lines. Find the side marked 40:1, add your petrol to the first line and your 2-stroke oil to the second.

The recommended ratio of fuel mix is 1 part oil to 50 parts petrol. For example, if you are using 5L of petrol, you will need 0.1L (100ml) of 2 Stroke Oil. To mix the fuel, pour the 2 Stroke engine oil into a mixing can that is approved for use with fuel, then add the petrol.
One of the many misconceptions of two-stroke machines is that it is different engines that require different ratios of oil and petrol. This is incorrect. The ratios depend on the quality of oil that you have chosen to use. It is recommended to use high quality petrol and oil to extend the running life of the engine.
Use a 40:1 two-cycle oil mix ratio. One gallon of gasoline combined with 3.2 oz of two-cycle engine oil. Unsure of the age of your equipment? Use the 40:1 mixture.
What is the ratio for 2-stroke fuel mix? Most modern petrol garden machinery requires a 50:1 ratio mix of petrol to oil. This means for every 1 litre of petrol you must mix 20ml of oil.
A 2-MIX engine is a 2-stroke engine that replaces the unburned fuel, which would have left via the exhaust during the transfer process, with fresh air. This is achieved by the addition of an extra `fresh air` port either side of the inlet manifold between it and the transfer ports.
You`ll need STIHL 2-Stroke oil, an empty and clean fuel can & fresh unleaded fuel from a reputable petrol station. Mix at 50:1 (20mls oil per 1 litre fuel) when you`re using STIHL 2-Stroke oil.
