Pressure washer stopped pushing out high pressure water. The unit when turned on produced an electrical huming noise which sounds like the motor wants to work but the pump is seized up? Is this a common problem and which parts generally need replacing?

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

If your pressure washer is refusing to work or even turn on, the culprit could potentially be the power switches. Most pressure washers use two micro switches that disconnect both the live and neutral connections between the supply and the motor. These switches can jam cutting the power out from reaching the motor.
A worn nozzle on the spray gun. A clogged water inlet filter (20). Worn O-rings on the bypass valve (19), or a bypass valve hanging up. High-pressure valve (43-46) fails to function properly.
If a mechanic has diagnosed your engine as seized, unfortunately, there are few options readily available to you. Depending on the severity of the damage, most mechanics will suggest a complete replacement rather than attempt a repair.
Engine seizure is caused by overheating or lack of lubrication. Without oil, the engine`s moving parts will no longer move smoothly against each other, and the engine will overheat. The first symptom may be a loss of engine power. You may also notice a change in the engine`s sound.
Each time the power cord is plugged in to an outlet, the Reset button on the GFCI module must be pressed down to connect to electricity. Check to see if the Reset button has been pressed. Next, confirm the small plastic window below the Reset button shows RED in the window.

The simple answer is yes, pressure washers can overheat. This is not unique to pressure washing machines – anything with a motor or power source can overheat in the right (or perhaps, wrong) circumstances.
Often times, a machine producing low pressure will surge, cycle on and off, or continue to run. This typically indicates that the machine is losing pressure somewhere, such as a leak in one of the lines or inside the case of the machine.
The Fuse. If the pressure washer does not start, then the first thing to check is the fuse in the plug. The reading you`re looking for is the same as it would be when connecting the two probes of the multimeter together (as you can see in the example of this video, this fuse is actually fine).
A seized engine repair is likely to cost at least $3,000 to $5,000. A seized engine either isn`t working properly or won`t turn over due to either a lack of oil or damage.
Turn the bolt in a clockwise direction to free the engine. If you cannot get the engine to turn, apply penetrating oil to the walls of each cylinder through the spark plug wells. Give the oil a couple of hours to work its way past the piston rings and try again.
If your engine seized because it`s been sitting too long, pull the spark plugs out of all the cylinders. Fill the cylinders with engine oil and let it sit for a few days. Then, try turning the engine over with a breaker bar. If it turns over, you may be able to salvage the engine.

wd 40 is an old remedy and works on lots of stuff but there are much better products out there. Kroil is about the best there is and gets into gaps of less than 3 millionths of an inch. Normally when I use it (it is expensive about 100 for a gallon) it will free up the engine in a matter of an hour to 24 hours tops.

1750 psi Electric Pressure Washer: My pressure washer is losing pressure and is pulsa…
ANSWER : If the pressure washer is pulsating then that is a sign of check valve failure. You may be able to clean of replace the check valves. Replacing the head is the wrong way to go. This is completely unnecessary. If you can tell me the model number of your pressure washer then I can assist you better in pointing you in the right direction.

Soap feed The soap feed hose on my Karcher 2650 does not suck up the soap into the washer. I pulled off the connector piece that the hose is connected to. I can blow through the hose. There is a little metal finger thing that you can tell pushes up into place when the water pressure is high. It seems like it is supposed to drop down and allow some soap through when the water is running. I found a loose(attached to nothing) gasket, looks like a little donut. It was just free floating in there. I’m thinking it may go over the finger mechanism. I just put it back on top of the finger, like a halo and put the screw in piece back in. Anyway, if you know, let me know how all that goes together.

I have a Karcher B402 Pressure Washer and when i plug it in and turn it on – nothing happens, not a sound. I have checked the fuse and the plug itself and this did not help. I contacted a service technician and they said it would cost £45/hr to have a look and it probably wasn’t worth fixing! Is there anything i can try to narrow down the problem/fix it myself. Any ideas what might have gone wrong? Sorry i can’t give you more info. Cheers
