Karcher

Karcher k1 used once to clean block paving. Came to use 2nd time and now leaks lots of water from inside the casing near the top end of the pump.
Pump runs but not getting high pressure any more.
Have the seals gone already??
ThanksJ

The most likely issue, which seems to occur alot with karcher, is a cracked water pump. What happens is that as you release the trigger on the handle, the rise in pressure should cut off the motor, but as it also cuts off the water flow at the wand end and the motor spins a few more revs until it stops, then there is a huge pressure glitch which blows apart the weak plastic pumps that they use. Since the plastic cracks it is very difficult to repair and the only option is to go and buy another. BUT…this time tape up the trigger on the handle so it is always on and then it won’t blow itself up. Just use the unit on/off switch to turn the motor on and off.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The main reason which may cause the pressure washer to leak from the inside is if the cylinder head – either cracked or failed. This is often caused by the pressure washer being stored in an area that can freeze during winter.
If your power washer leaks water from the connection between the hose and inlet, the seal and possibly the coupling on the inlet are likely broken and will need to be replaced. This seal and coupling should be fairly easy to remove and replace.
The leak could be due to the normal operation of the thermal release valve. The thermal release valve allows hot water to exit the pressure washer if the water temperature becomes excessively high. If the pressure washer is left running while it is not spraying water, the water in the pump will begin to heat up.
A: Pretty much everything on the Karcher is repairable.
If your washer drips water or fills with water when it is not turned on, the water valve on the back of your washer may have failed. This can cause water to leak from the water valve into your washer tub when the washer is turned off. In this situation, the water valve usually needs to be replaced.
One of the most common causes for a washer that leaks from the bottom is a leak in the fill and drain hoses. These hoses can become blocked, kinked, damaged or disconnected, resulting in a leak while your washing machine is in use.
If a water pumping is leaking it cannot efficiently move coolant around the engine. If that happens the engine will get hotter and will eventually overheat. At first the temperature gauge will hit the red, then you`ll start seeing steam from under the hood.
If you notice water dripping into your washer even though it`s turned off, you may have an issue with the washer inlet valve. It allows the water to flow into the tub. Check the valve on the back of the machine to find out if it`s leaking.
One of the most common causes of a washing machine leak when not in use is debris caught in a water inlet valve. This is typically caused by a clog or obstruction within the valve, which prevents it from closing entirely and allowing water to escape.
Gas Pressure Washer: Why does water spray out of my pressure washer`s pressure relief valve? If the pressure washer runs for more than 5 minutes when the spray wand isn`t in use, the water in the pump often overheats, causing the thermal relief valve to open and discharge hot water onto the ground.
