How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Economy PTO allows the tractor to operate at the required 540 rpm at the PTO but with lower engine rpm, which saves fuel, reduces vibration, and reduces noise.
The PTO lever allows the operator to quickly and smoothly control engagement and disengagement of the PTO using an easily-accessible control lever. If the tractor is stopped or is being downshifted, the PTO rpm levels can be maintained. To activate the PTO, simply move control lever forward.
If full PTO hp is required, the tractor should be run in standard 540 modes. A live PTO, normally, has a 2 stage clutch. You can depress the clutch 1/2 way in and the transmission will stop but the PTO will continue to spin under a load (not just free spin).
When operated at full recommended speed, a PTO shaft will rotate clockwise at 540 revolutions per minute (rpm), which equals 9 revolutions per second, or at 1,000 rpm (16.7 revolutions per second). As shown in the Table 1, a 540 rpm shaft travels 7.1 feet per second, while a 1,000 rpm shaft turns 13.1 feet per second.
Proper engine speed for the 1000-rpm PTO shaft is 2000 engine rpm. For 540-rpm PTO shaft, proper engine speed is 1817 rpm.
The PTO is engaged and disengaged using the main transmission clutch and a remote control mechanism which operates on the PTO itself. Typically, an air valve is used to engage the PTO, but a mechanical linkage, electric or hydraulic mechanism are also options.
The compact utility tractors have PTO ( Power-take-off) which supports the implements. The spinning drive shaft permits attachments like mower, loader or backhoe to pull power from the engine to run. Popular tractor models in the 21-35 Horsepower range are, Eicher 242 – 25 hp.
The PTO Horsepower indicates the amount of power available to run various implements. PTO used for pulling the implements for tillage and sowing various kinds of crops and used for power stationary. Equipment for doing multi-operation such as threshing of crops, spraying, pumping water from a tube well and many more.
The design of the PTO itself is a two gear mechanically shifted Rear Mount PTO that is attached to rear mount apertures of a transmission.
PTO engines generally run at either 540 RPM or 1,000 RPM. If you have a modern tractor, it will likely be compatible with either one of these speed; however, if you own an older tractor that can only handle one of these two speeds, you must make sure to get the corresponding PTO unit.
540 / 1,000 rpm as standard (up to 3,000rpm if required)

Eletric PTO is not working
ANSWER : The PTO draws a pretty good current, so a weak or loose contact in the switch, or in the connections on the back of the switch, could cause this overheating. But it could also happen if the PTO clutch itself or the wiring to it has a short. If the mower’s still under warranty, get the dealer to diagnose and fix it. If not, then I’d measure the resistance of the PTO clutch – should be about 2 ohms – and make sure the wiring to it isn’t shorted. If all that is OK, then just replace the PTO switch and any melted connectors and wiring. Good luck!
