How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The number one cause of low or no pressure when using a pressure washer is a blocked or worn nozzle. Blocked nozzles will prevent water from escaping, while a worn nozzle will allow too much water to pass through, causing the pressure to drop.
This problem is likely due to low oil levels. Disassemble the pump, check the oil level and top it up. Running your pump without oil can cause it to overheat, requiring total replacement. If the oil is cloudy or dirty, water may have gotten into the crank tank due to worn-out seals.
Surging occurs when the pressure is fine and then weakens. It is caused when the flow rate for the pump cannot be supported by the water supply. Problems can mount from there so it is important that it is dealt with as soon as possible.
If the pressure washer does not start, then the first thing to check is the fuse in the plug. The reading you`re looking for is the same as it would be when connecting the two probes of the multimeter together (as you can see in the example of this video, this fuse is actually fine).
A dirty inlet or discharge valve is the most common cause of a pulsating pressure washer. Dirt or hard water can get caught up in these little divots. It is important that you clean out these pieces every so often to prevent these kinds of problems.
The washer pump makes a distinctive sound when you trigger the windshield washer fluid to spray onto your windshield. If you press the button and don`t hear anything, and no fluid sprays onto your windshield, this indicates that the pump is broken or is not receiving electrical power.
A common complaint is that the water in the washing machine drum will not drain, or that the washing machine has stopped mid-cycle with it still full of water. Another common issue is that the washing machine drum will not spin, or it won`t drain properly.
If your pressure washer starts and runs fine, but there`s no pressure or no water coming from the pump, it could be a clogged wand, hose or inlet filter. Fortunately, this is an easy pressure washer problem to repair.
If the pump is leaking, the cause may be minor and easy to repair. Check the seals, packings, and O-rings for wear. These can easily be replaced, saving you the cost of a new pump. However, major leaks such as the ones caused by cracked or damaged plungers, can lead to pump failures.
Worn or Dirty Gasket

Before each use, you should inspect the gasket of your pressure cooker. Don`t let it have any dried-on food because this can cause the steam not to build in the cooker. Even a worn gasket—which happens over time—can take a pressure cooker more time to build up the necessary steam.

Begin isolating the problem by hooking a water hose to the washer`s inlet and turning it on. If water flows out the outlet, you know water is cycling through. If not, chances are your inlet filter is clogged. Remove and clean it, and you should be good to go.
You may need to rebuild or replace the pump assembly. If the pump is more than a few years old, and you use the pressure washer fairly often, replace the pump assembly. If the pump is relatively new, and you don`t use the pressure washer often, either rebuild the pump assembly or replace the pump seals.

If it takes two minutes or less, you`ll be fine, since most pressure washers need 2-1/2 gallon per minute to work. To ensure that water circulates unobstructed through the system, check the water inlet filter or screen and clean it of debris. Also, make sure the garden and pressure hoses are kink free.

They recommend 250 hours, but i’d change more often, like you said when it’s milky. If it begins to get water in the oil sooner, that indicates your piston to crankcase seal is beginning to leak.
