Based on that usage, a lower-quality line of residential mowers is expected to last 450-500 hours, while a John Deere residential lawn mower will last around 1,000-1,500 hours.
Your John Deere Gator may backfire for several reasons, but the most common ones revolve around fuel and air mixture. It will backfire if there is too much fuel and too little oxygen or vice versa. It`s otherwise known as being β€œtoo rich or too lean.”
Common problems on the list include things like uneven grass cutting, slipping belts, or minor engine problems. John Deere also claims that lighting issues and battery problems are common. Still, John Deere tractors are largely reputed for their reliability.
Aside from a deck adjustment gear, your mower may have a linkage that helps adjust the deck height. The linkage has a nut that you can tighten to raise the deck and loosen to lower the deck. If the metal linkage becomes damaged or seized, and you can`t make these adjustments, a new linkage is required.
7-Gauge Steel Decks

All models use the 7-gauge steel! Most companies use a much thinner 10-gauge steel. Ten gauge is only 0.179” thick, compared to 7 gauge which is 0.135” thick.

The John Deere Mulch On Demand deck lets you switch between mulching and side-discharging without ever leaving your seat. Save time and money by keeping clippings off of sidewalks and driveways and out of mulch beds.
If it`s not the same height as your selected cutting height, you`ll want to either raise or lower it with your wrenches. To raise the deck, you`ll need to adjust the rear lift rod nut by turning it clockwise. Turning it counterclockwise will lower the deck. Repeat on the other side.

HAVE A JOHN DEERE 318 LAWN TRACTOR, CHANGED POINTS AND CONDENSER, WON’T TURN OVER, TRIED STARTING FLUID IN CARB AND NOTHING. CAN IT BE THE COIL AND HOW DO I CHECK? THANKS
ANSWER : Check the coil impedance on the primary and secondary side. You’ll have to disconnect the battery negative cable so you don’t short something out. Unplug the spark plug wires and the two sets of smaller wires connected to the primary side of the coil. The primary coil reading should be between 3.7 ohms and 4.6 ohms while the secondary (spark plug side) should be between 34.2 k-ohms and 41.6 k-ohms. If the resistance values you measure are outside of these ranges, you need to replace the coil.
