How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
Nothing leads to a garden dying quicker than not enough water. Plants need water to help them process nutrients in the soil and to grow and produce fruit. If your garden isn`t getting enough water, the plants will slowly begin to shut down.
Have I paid my taxes? In northern states mid-late April should be the earliest you consider cutting back perennials and clearing garden debris. Keep in mind that some bees don`t emerge until late May, so the longer you can tolerate your “messy” garden the better.
There are many reasons for sudden plant death, including gopher damage, microscopic nematodes that attack plant roots, too much fertilizer and so on. In the vast majority of cases, the cause is as simple as too much or too little water.
One of the most common causes of plant death is water. More specifically: too much or too little water. You might be surprised to learn it`s sometimes hard to tell the difference.
To revive the plant, you can soak it in water and then adopt a predictable watering schedule that uses the same amount of water each time. Remove dead leaves: Improper care may cause most leaves on the plant to die, and it`s usually best to remove leaves that have become entirely brown.
If there is no green anywhere in the stems, roots can still be checked. Carefully dig the plant from the soil and look for roots that are light, supple, and have little to no scent. Dead roots will either be mushy and smelly or dry and brittle.
Rotation is critical in vegetable gardens. It helps to reduce diseases and balance nutrients. For instance, tomatoes are prone to one set of diseases and take up specific nutrients from the soil. While cucumbers have a different set of diseases, and they take up nutrients in different amounts.
Anything that inhibits roots from absorbing enough water — or supplying it to the plant fast enough — can lead to unsightly brown tips. This includes providing the plant with too much water, too little water or too much fertilizer.
The humidity may be too low or the soil may be too dry. Are the leaves wilting? Wilting can signal overwatering or underwatering. If possible, take the plant out of the pot and check the roots for signs of rot, slime or excessive dryness.

I have craftsman 18.5 horse riding mower when i turn key its like battery does not have enough power to turn engine over, was wondering if it could be the starter cause battery is good.
My Z5426 won’t start. When I pull out the choke and turn the key, gas starts leaking out of the exhaust system just before it gets to the muffler. Last time it did start, it ran really rough. So, I turn off the engine and then tried to restart and that’s when I noticed the fuel leak.
ANSWER : Maybe bad fuel, fuel line leaking, flooding of the carburetor, since it did start and ran rough I am assuming that the gas was left set and more then likely this gummed up the carburetor, you will have to clean/rebuild it. If you have a can of carburetor clean you may be able to spray that into there and clean it up, I would not choke it to start it as it sounds like it got/is flooded/ing. Good Luck Tim

ANSWER : Check the hydraulic oil level for the hydrostat drives(if it has a reserve tank located under the seat. Some ZT’s don’t have the reserve tank. Don’t over fill that tank. 1/4 inch above the bottom is all it needs.)
Also, check the steering arm bolts. Very often they work themselves loose and the arm doesn’t pull the valve rod that controls the hydrostat unit.
Battery goes dead over night – Toro 42'' Zero Turn Lawn Mower Trailer Package Deal ()
ANSWER : First thing to do is find out if it’s the battery or the mower. Disconnect the battery and leave it overnight. If it’s dead in the morning, you need a new battery. If not, you either have a charging problem (not likely if the battery isn’t dead after using the mower) or you have a current drain.
