2g Yard N Garden Sprayer

I pump to full pressure and it holds. Immediately after operating the spray lever pressure is completely lost via air (no fluid) passage through the spray nozzle. Pressure is lost in less than two seconds. All connections are tight and appear to be sealed.
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
Your dip tube inside the tank has come loose or has a leak near the top. instead of fluid being pushed up the dip tube into the wand hose the air in the tank is just escaping. You will have to remove the wand hose and figure out where the leak is and fix the dip tube.

How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

If no pressure is felt then the sprayer isn`t getting pressure in the first place, so the most probable cause is a faulty, missing or dry plunger O-ring or leaking non return valve. Replace or lubricate as necessary.
Flow Rate and Spray Nozzle Size

With a pump sprayer, the flow rate is determined by the spray nozzle being used and the amount of pressure in the tank. Each spray nozzle will allow a certain GPM at different psi. One nozzle may allow 0.2 GPM at 40 psi, while the next size up allows 0.3 GPM at 40 psi.

Your sprayer is designed to operate at 40 P.S.I. (275 kpa). You will notice that when the sprayer is at full pressure the safety valve will lift and a red indicator becomes visible. Pump periodically to maintain constant spraying pressure.
If you are experiencing lost or low pressure on your sprayer, check to see if the filter in the backpack is clogged. Some clogs can be fixed as easily as spraying water into the empty backpack to flush out the filter. Rinse out the tank a few times and see if that fixes the problem.
Most AI nozzles perform best at >4 bar (60 psi). Pressure can be used on-the-fly to make minor changes to flow rate while spraying. This is how rate-controllers work to compensate for changes in ground speed and maintain a constant overall rate per planted area.
A typical garden hose flow rate is usually between 9 and 17 gallons per minute.
To work out the flow rate of water from a nozzle we need to work out the volume in a given period of time. To do this we work out the area of the nozzle and then multiply it by the velocity of the water coming from the nozzle to give us volume per unit of time.
You may not have noticed, but hoses come with a pound per square inch, or PSI, rating. The average pressure for home faucets falls in the range of about 50 PSI, but it can be as high as 80. In some cases, regulators need to be installed to limit the PSI, and they will help prevent damage to your plants.
The standard flat-fan nozzle normally operates between 30 pounds per square inch (psi) and 60 psi, with an ideal range of 30–40 psi. The even flat-fan nozzles apply uniform coverage across the entire width of the nozzle`s spray pattern.
The average for a backpack sprayer is around 70 psi, but smaller models can use as little as 40 psi, and a commercial backpack sprayer may use as much as 150 psi.
The pressure developed in these sprayers depends on the pump and varies from 3 to 12 kg/cm2 The application rate is 500 lit/ha. The coverage is 0.5-1.0 ha/day. Salient features of knapsack sprayers.
Operating pressure range 1 – 4 bar (15 – 60 PSI). Adjustable straps with low absorbency of liquid. Metal lance and trigger valve handle for maximum durability.
Debris, such as solidified particles from the spray liquid, can accumulate inside the spray gun and cause patchy or blocked spraying. Blockages occur most frequently at the tip of the spray gun (the air cap and liquid outlet).
This depends mostly on the type of spray chemical you are using. Some chemicals will be fine to sit in your tank for a week while some will clog up your sprayer within 24 hours. This question will also depend on the quality of water you are using. Dirty polluted water will encourage clogging if debris is in your tank.
