A: Commonly a belt routing diagram sticker is on the underside of the hood or in the engine compartment. If there is no diagram, make a sketch of the belt and pulleys before removing the belt.
Hydro belts, transaxle drive belts, hydrostatic drive belts and ground drive belts. Different terminology, same thing. Whatever you call it, its function is to transfer power from the engine to the transaxles, powering the drive wheels on a zero turn lawn mower.
First two digits indicate top width in sixteenths of an inch. Next two digits designate sheave angle, in degrees, that the belt is designed to fit. Last three or four digits indicate pitch length to the nearest tenth of an inch. Part numbers are derived from industry standard number.
For most cars, the belt will be located at the front of the engine. When checking the belt, always make sure the car is switched off and cooled down. Your belt should be inspected with each oil change. Mechanics will normally check the belt to ensure no significant damage has occurred.
Pull the riding mower front frame assembly forward by hand. Measure the belt spacing, pulling the front frame assembly forward until the belt spacing is 1 1/4 inches between the mower belt and belt idler pulley. Tighten the frame anchor bolts with a wrench when you achieve 1 1/4 inch spacing.
A common cause of belt breakage is excessive grass clippings on the deck. Grass clippings can work their way under pulleys and deck covers, causing series problems. Make sure to clean off your deck after every mower use and follow manufacturer recommendations.
There is no specific time length that mower belts need to be replaced.
The first one, and the more recognizable one, is the manufacturer`s part number, which is referenced when ordering the part. The second, and lesser known one, is a global industry standard number that indicates the size of the belt.
In order to determine the belt datum length, simply add the pulley circumference to twice the center distance between the pulleys. When the belt is used to reduce speed or multiply torque, pulleys of different diameters are used.
When Choosing a belt it`s important to know how Belts are normally measured and labeled for size. Most Belts are normally measured from where the belt leather folds at the buckle end to the middle hole at the tip end and are usually stamped on the back of the belt with the size example 32, 34, 36 etc.
Belt length: Measure from the far end of the belt buckle across to the far end of the belt past all of the belt holes.
The “Deck Belt” goes around the pulleys right above the blades on the deck and then to a double pulley. The “Drive Belt” on your mower goes from the transmission, around an Idler pulley then over to the double pulley I mentioned before. The Drive belt also plays a role in making the wheels turn.
The blade drive belt connects the engine pulley to the mower deck pulleys and spins the cutting blades.
Use a cloth measuring tape (not a steel one) and wrap it around the outside of the belt. You also use a thin string to take this measurement and place it on a steel tape to get the correct length. Next, for “A” Belts (1/2” width) subtract two-inches from the outside measurement to select the correct V-belt.

A good rule of thumb for the average homeowner is to replace your mower blades annually. You may also think about replacing them if they become damaged. Dig up that product manual if you want a more clear-cut answer. Always make sure to take protective measures whenever sharpening your mower blades at home.

Lay the belt on a clean, flat surface. Start the tape measure at the hole you use and measure to the end of the belt, where it meets the buckle. Belts are measured in inches and you should round to the nearest inch. If you measure 36 inches, you will want to purchase a size 36 belt.

The average belt loop size on a pair of dress pants is 1.25″ and on a pair of jeans, the standard is 1.5″, making the most common standard belt width for tailored pants in the 1-1.25″ range.

ANSWER : I don’t have a diagram but we just had to replace our belt and Here’s how we did it. Note that the shiny gold/silver pulleys make contact with the flat side of the belt while the black pulleys make contact with the u-shaped side of the belt. If you look at the pulleys you will see they have different shapes to correspond with the different shape on each side of the belt. The drive pulley at the back makes contact with the u-shaped side of the belt.Release the tension spring and thread the belt. Belt slips under the middle back pulley with the tension spring released. Then use a spring pulling tool (there is such a thing) or another method to pull the tension spring back over the bolt. Ensure belt is threaded properly with no twisting and nothing caught in the pulleys before firing it up.Hope that helps.

Engine runs, blades turn but mower will not move
ANSWER : Look in front of back tired on frame, not deck, there are. 2 rods, 1 on each side, rods look like a L, it’s going through a little eye opening, push it backards, mower should move. If rod is pulled through opening and locked in, mower will not move..its a safety. Feather on mower
