McCulloch

Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
There is no oil in the crankcase of a 2-cycle chainsaw engine, it is mixed into the fuel.
McCulloch recommends 40:1 (1 Gallon of premium fuel/3.2 ounces of quality 2-cycle oil).
It will operate better on 50:1 (1 Gallon of premium fuel/2.6 ounces of quality 2-cycle oil) once properly adjusted.
If you are asking about chain lubrication, purchase whatever “Bar and Chain Oil” is least expensive at your local hardware or home center.

Chainsaws from McCulloch are self-lubricating. Use only Universal powered by McCulloch bar and chain oil. This oil has been specially developed to retain its viscosity at the extreme temperatures generated by the chain and bar.
McCulloch recommends using regular-grade unleaded gasoline. Never use fuel additives, such as a fuel stabilizer, with this unit.
The viscosity of chainsaw bar oil can vary, depending on the formula but 30W is standard. In cold weather, a thin 10W chainsaw oil may be advantageous, while very hot temperatures may require a much thicker 40W or 50W formula.
1. Turn the McCulloch chainsaw upside down, and locate the serial number plate, which is a metal plate on the bottom of the chainsaw. Scan the plate for the word “Model” followed by a series of letters and numbers; the letters and numbers are the model of the chainsaw. A model number example is “CS 380.”
Now identify the min and max markings on the dipstick. You can also check the manufacturer`s specifications on the amount of oil you need to fill the tank. Pour the SAE 30 oil into the tank, this can also take time to settle.
OLO001 – 4 Stroke Oil SAE30.
Your chainsaw will need an unleaded, mid-grade gasoline with an octane rating of at least 89. This is one of the few times you`ll want to spend the money for premium gas. Unlike other small engines, most chainsaws us a high-performance engine. If the octane rating is not at 89, you risk knocking your engine.
Unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89 is recommended. A lower octane can cause some issues, such as increased engine temperature, increased piston seizures, and engine damage.
Chainbar Lubricant SAE 40 is a heavier viscosity tacky, chainsaw/bar lubricant formulated from high quality base oils to provide superior chain and bar protection, condition seals and reduce sling off. BENEFITS: Excellent adhesion to the chain and bar. High level of protection ensures longer bar and chain life.
Since then, McCulloch is a brand within the Husqvarna Group. Today, McCulloch offers a complete line of garden products: powerful chainsaws, sturdy trimmers, lawnmowers, garden tractors and hedge trimmers.
In 1999 McCulloch sold its European division to Husqvarna AB. Nine years later, Husqvarna also acquired the rights to the McCulloch brand on the North American market. Since then, McCulloch is a brand within the Husqvarna Group.
On the back of your product you will often find one or more stickers that show you which product it is you have. It can be difficult to recognize what the different numbers mean. The model number is the name of your product. You can normally find this under `Model` or `Product`.
Motor oil flings off the chain more quickly, so if you try Terry`s tip, be prepared to refill the oil on your chain saw more quickly than with regular bar and chain oil.

Dont know what type off oil to put in the bar and chain tank on the chainsaw
ANSWER : Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

All Bar oils are SAE 30W non-detergent oil. Go down to the local auto parts supply and buy the cheapest SAE 30W you can find…. SAE 30W is SAE 30W regardless of what brand is on it and for bar oil it is not an issue.

What type of oil do I use for pole saw? – Remington Polesaw Wizard
ANSWER : Use bar and chain oil (bar oil is SAE 30 with an addative to make stick to the bar and chain) available at home centers and hardwares. Excerpt from a Remington OM follows:
“FILLING OIL TANK
1. Remove oil cap.
2. Fill oil tank with SAE #30 motor oil.
Note: For temperatures below 30°F, use SAE #10 oil.
For temperatures above 75°F, use SAE #40 oil.
3. Replace oil cap at once. Tighten oil cap firmly for good seal. This will avoid oil seepage from tank.
4. Wipe off excess oil.
Note: It is normal for oil to seep when saw is not in use. Empty oil tank after each use to prevent seepage.”
