Why does the Auto Reel not retract all the time? We recommend pulling out all the hose. Clean any excess debris from the outside of the hose such as sand and dirt with a damp cloth. Now, let the hose retract slowly by walking back to the reel holding the end stop.
A: No, we do not offer a repair service for Auto Reels.
Inside the pressure reducer there is a white tube with a spring attached. It sounds as if this has dried out, and is forcing water out of the hole, instead of the normal air flow. If you unscrew the bottom part of the pressure reducer, you will see this part inside.
Firstly ensure that you are releasing water pressure from the hose before retracting. The added water pressure may be the cause of this issue. If this does not help, pull your hose out to its full length then let it retract back in. This should re-align the hose on the drum.
A good garden hose should last five to 10 years with proper care, but you`ll need to replace that hose a whole lot sooner if you don`t maintain it the right way.
To increase spring tension:

Adding wraps of hose will increase spring tension. This can be accomplished by pulling out approximately 10 feet of hose, hand feed hose back up through roller bracket assembly* until loop is large enough to slip over spool. Add two or three wraps until desired tension is achieved.

The reason for this is because a build up of water pressure. On the water inlet or coupling the water can cause a pressure build up, popping the garden hose off. The aqua stop is a valve in the end of the garden hose connection that restricts water flow.
Maximum working pressure usually 12 bar so test pressure is typically 18 bar. Flow test – The flow rate of the water delivered by the hose is tested with a flow meter to ensure that it delivers water at the required rate.

Just installed a new pull cord…the cord does not retract. How do I fix the problem?
ANSWER : The best way i found is to twist counter clock wise a dozen turns, hold the spool with vise grips, feed the roop through all holes you need to go through, into the reel knot, i burn the knot, keeps it from slipping out, then slowly let the spring bring the slak in when i release the vise grips!

Hard to pull starter rope. It doesn’t pull smoothly. hard to pull.
ANSWER : Take the spark plug out–does it pull smoothly now? If not, the pull cord may be the wrong size or it is damaged and/or doesn’t rewind correctly. Does the machine have a compression release? If so, it may be plugged with carbon. With the spark plug out, pull the engine through several times briskly with the throttle open and the choke off to expel any excess fuel from the crankcase. Hope some of this helps!

Model 60520 cultivator. Pull cord is fully extended and won’t return. How do I get it to rewind?
ANSWER : I have a RY60512 and it did the same thing I removed the starter housing assembly and sprayed the inside with a lot of WD40 and worked it around and manualy rewound the cord by sticking a small skinny screw driver into one of the molded holes and just kept working it untill it started to rewind. I discovered that it filled up with water and the spring got rusty it takes a little bit of doing but finally got to work .also there are two spring loaded dogs that catch on the engine that needed to be WD40 as well. through research I discovered that the starter housing assembly is the same for both models and are still available.
