Reasons Why a Pressure Washer is Not Working Properly
Well, there can be a lot happening within the parts of a pressure washer but some of the most common causes why it starts and dies are issues related to spark arrestor, fuel filter, fuel cap, carburetor, and clogging of the pressure washer filter.
One of the most common reasons a pressure washer won`t stay running is because the spark plug is dirty or damaged. To clean the spark plug, you will need to remove it from the engine and use a wire brush to remove any build-up on the electrode.
Water leaking from a loose connection can cause the unit to cycle on and off. Verify if the pressure hose has an O-ring at the connection. If missing, this will also cause the unit to cycle on and off. While the unit is running look for any water leaks that may cause the unit to turn back on.
The washing machine spins for a few seconds, then stops. If your washing machine spins but seems to experience interruptions, the drive motor may have burnt out. Replacing a broken drive motor is a complicated repair that should be left to a trained professional.
Some of the most common faults that will make your washer stop mid cycle include thermostat failure, problems filling up with water for the rinse cycle, or even pump problems that prevent your washer from draining. One thing that you can check yourself is the lid switch.
Replace leaking, punctured or rusted hoses. Clean your drain pump every three months to avoid clogging. You might be using more detergent than necessary. In this case, your washing machine will stop and try to absorb the excess foam in its drum.
Each time the power cord is plugged in to an outlet, the Reset button on the GFCI module must be pressed down to connect to electricity. Check to see if the Reset button has been pressed. Next, confirm the small plastic window below the Reset button shows RED in the window.

If the pressure washer trips the fuse board or blows the electrics in your home, make sure there`s no water in the switch or the other electrical items – and again examine the capacitor if your model carries one.
How Do I Tell If My Unloader Valve is Bad? In most occurrences, the first symptom of an unloader valve going bad is no pressure from the wand when the trigger is pressed. This happens when the unloader valve gets stuck open and does not allow water to enter the hose and trigger.
It is normal for the washing machine to display 1-minute pause for easy care and gentle cycles. After a wash cycle, there is an anti-crease cycle which lasts about 30 minutes. During this remaining cycle, the display will show 1 minute, for example, and the OFF indicator light will illuminate.
Programmes will take longer to finish when an additional function such as extra rinse or pre-wash is selected. You may be using too much detergent or an inappropriate type for your appliance. Read the instructions on the detergent packaging to find out if it`s the right type for your washing machine.
The number one cause of low or no pressure when using a pressure washer is a blocked or worn nozzle. Blocked nozzles will prevent water from escaping, while a worn nozzle will allow too much water to pass through, causing the pressure to drop.
Reset your washing machine
There really isn`t a way to reset the washing machine. What you can do instead is power cycle it: Unplug it (or turn off power at the circuit breaker), wait some time for the electrical charge to clear out of the washer (usually 1 to 5 minutes at most), and then power it up again.
To reset the electronic controls on your washer, shut off the circuit breaker or fuse to the washer or unplug the washer for 2 minutes. For models that have a timer control knob, turn the knob around and back to any position other than final spin for the interrupted cycle. Then, restore power.

It usually happens when the pressure washer runs out of gas. A blocked fuel filter can also stop a pressure washer from running smoothly. The gas flow to the carburetor will be limited. Solution: Check the air vent on the fuel cap is not blocked.
