The plug will depend on the SV number on your engine; the gap will be the same for each engine – . 024-. 028.
Features a powerful 2-cycle engine (requires gas/oil mix) with push-button priming for easy starts.
Once the fuel tank is empty, push the primer bulb on your tiller 7 or 8 times to clear out any fuel in the carburetor. Empty the fuel tank again.
The gap setting is different for each vehicle but most are somewhere between 0.028″ and . 060″. Consult the owner`s manual or Champion ® catalog to find the recommended setting for the vehicle you`re working on.
The extra-wide Mantis XP rototiller is designed for large gardens and yards and is powered by an easy starting Honda® 4-cycle engine.
You should check the clutch drum of your Mantis tiller. In order to do that, you have to disengage your engine from the transmission.
The throttle body is connected to the gas pedal of your vehicle with a linkage or flexible cable, which moves the throttle shaft when the gas pedal is depressed.
A push/pull throttle is a dual cable throttle operation where the pull cable opens the throttle plates, while the push cable, along with a throttle return spring, closes the throttle plates. The “push” cable is a misnomer as the push cable also pulls.
You don`t need both cables, you can safely remove the “push” cable. It`s just a redundancy system.
The model number on a Mantis tiller can be found on a white label, located on top of the engine housing. The model number will be located at the bottom of the label in the “Item#” field. Enter the model number of your Mantis below to search for parts.

I have a two cylinder Mantis tiller. It has locked up and the cord is locked. I am unable to pull the cord. Any suggestions? I was in the process of using the tiller when it felt as if it were running out of gas. It stopped on its own, and then it was locked up and I was unable to pull the cord.
ANSWER : Check the oil, if not full fill it, take the shroud off, should be for bolts, fit a socket on it with a breaker bar or ratchet and turn it a few times, then reassemble and start. Hope this helped Tim

My Mantis Tiller 4cycle engine starts well but when I press the throttle completedly, the tines turn very slowly. This is a brand new tiller, used only twice. The engine is sitting all the way down on the worn gear housing.
ANSWER : I had same issue with my 2 year old 4cycle. Check if the carb is moving full stroke with throttle movement. I had almost no movement at carb at full throttle, found the trigger in throttle handle was cracked and bent rather than pull cable. I called mantis and they promptly sent a new handle bar ***’y with new cable, throttle ***’y Etc and that solved my problem.

BTW: If you cannot wait, I did figure out that if I pushed the carb to open with the throttle trigger fully pulled it would run at high, but when you let go…..LOL

When I Start Mantis Tilleer it starts in gear ( tines are turning)
ANSWER : The Mantis has a speed controlled automatic clutch.

Lower the idle speed by turning the idle screw counter clockwise. The idle screw is attached where the throttle cable meet the carb. The screw has a pointed end that resembles a pencil point.

The engine speed should be adjusted just above stalling.

If the tines turn even when the engine pull rope is pulled, the the clutch is defective and needs repairing.
