Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
This isn’t the most technical sounding answer but it works and I’ve used it numerous times with no problems. To set the coil gap on small 2 cycle equipment , I use a 3″ x 5″ note card, tighten the bolts then manually turn the flywheel to make sure it doesn’t rub.

This engine model requires a 25 thousandths of an inch gap.
The gap is not a critical value, thankfully. However, if the flywheel and coil ever come in contact with each other while the engine is running, the coil will be damaged and coil output will suffer. If this has happened, the coil must be replaced.
Please be aware that 2-cycle engines like this one require a mixture of gas and oil in order to run. For the Husqvarna 125B, this ratio is 50:1.
For most racing applications, you usually want the plug gap to be between 0.020 and 0.040 of an inch. Most engine builders seem to settle around 0.035 of an inch. Factors such as the type of ignition you run, cylinder heads, fuel and even timing can affect how much gap will work best for you.
Spark plug gaps for car engines are typically 0.6 to 1.8 mm (0.024 to 0.071 in). Modern engines (using solid-state ignition systems and electronic fuel injection) typically use larger gaps than older engines that use breaker point distributors and carburetors.
Flywheels are typically made of steel and rotate on conventional bearings; these are generally limited to a maximum revolution rate of a few thousand RPM. High energy density flywheels can be made of carbon fiber composites and employ magnetic bearings, enabling them to revolve at speeds up to 60,000 RPM (1 kHz).
A: Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, “Yes, the TruFuel 50:1 Pre-Mixed Fuel Plus Oil will work in the Husqvarna 130BT back pack leaf blower as long as the owners manual specifies 2 Cycle 50:1 fuel mixture.
If your manufacturer recommends a 50:1 fuel/oil mix, it means you need 50 parts of gas to one part two-stroke oil. To mix one gallon of fuel at 50:1, add 2.6 ounces of two-stroke oil to one gallon of gas, as shown in the chart below.
Some allow it as early as 7 a.m. Another Naugatuck Patch reader noted there`s “no way” 7 a.m. is a “reasonable” time. Start at 9 a.m. “If you must,” the person said, adding, “Not everyone is a morning person.
Spark gaps are frequently used to prevent voltage surges from damaging equipment. Spark gaps are used in high-voltage switches, large power transformers, in power plants and electrical substations.
Correct Gap

The gap between the spark plug`s center electrode and outer electrode should be set at 0.02 inch, or 0.5 millimeter, for most Husqvarna trimmer models. On some newer models, the company recommends a slightly larger gap of 0.024 inch, or 0.6 millimeter.

A: This spark plug should have a gap set to 0.02 inches.

My chainsaw has no spark, I have checked the spark plug and it works on another unit, i guess it may be the ignition, ho0wever as it is a small coil I have no way of checking. can the coil be simply tested, otherwise can one be purcahsed.
ANSWER : Yes the coil can be tested. you would need to know the proper specs but with a multimeter you should be able to get a resistance value from your plug wire to ground. With my experience 10000 – 30000 ohms should allow it to run. If this is no help one common thing is your kill switch. A wire should run from the coil to the switch, if this wire is shorted to ground it will not run.

What are the symptoms of a bad coil on my Poulan chainsaw? Mine only sparks at high RPM’s, as tested with my electic drill motor spinning the engine and grounding the removed spark plug to the engine head. I don’t want to buy a new coil if that may not be the problem. I’ve already checked the kill switch wiring and the high tension spark plug wire itself, as well as trying several different plugs.
Thanks! -Rob
ANSWER : There has to be a reasonable spark at hand cranking speed, with most electronic ignitions they work off speed of rotation so you do need to crank the engine at a fair speed, check the air gap between the flywheel magnet and the ignition core, this should be around 0.3mm, if there is not spark at all when cranked well it will be a replacement unit required.
