How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
Reduce the roller tension until you can press the torch trigger and the rollers slip (wire does not feed) Grip the wire between your thumb and first finger. Your grip should be firm but not tight (no white knuckles please)
If the drive rolls are turning but the wire is not feeding, it is usually caused by inadequate drive roll pressure or a blockage in the contact tip or liner. Check the drive rolls and contact tip before moving on to the liner, which takes more time and effort to check and replace.
Your welding wire not feeding properly off the spool is likely due to incorrect tension on either the spool break, the drive rolls, or both. Too much tension can cause wear on the wire and too little can lead to birdnesting, so it`s important to find the sweet spot on both parts.
The ideal pressure range for most standard MIG welding jobs is between 3 to 8 PSI.
Push or pull: Here the rule is simple. “If it produces slag, you drag,” says Leisner. In other words, you drag the rod or wire when welding with a stick or flux-core wire welder. Otherwise, you push the wire with metal inert gas (MIG) welding.
Wire feed speed/amperage too high: Setting the wire feed speed or amperage too high (depending on what type of machine you`re using) can cause poor arc starts, and lead to an excessively wide weld bead, burn-through, excessive spatter and poor penetration.
Once you get the drive rolls to slip, tighten the drive rolls a half turn more. You can also feed wire into the palm of your welding glove if it is well padded. Just make sure there isn`t a really sharp point by bending the end of the wire over.
The opening roller surface speed is usually selected from within the range 800–2500 m/min, depending on the type of fibre and the roller design.
