Craftsman Craftsman HF980095T16 0.095″ Diameter Trimmer LineFor use with Hassle-Free trimmer heads.
Most styles and weights are interchangeable, so you can use non-OEM (original equipment manufacturers) line. However, larger/heavier line may not fit every string trimmer. Replace old trimmer line every spring. It could turn brittle over the cold winter and break more easily.
Description. To fit various strimmers / chainsaws / lawnmowers / hedge trimmers. ID: 3.0mm. OD: 5.0mm.
String trimmer line comes in a range of thicknesses or sizes. For light work, such as trimming grass, 0.065″-0.085″ should be sufficient. For thicker grass and weeds, a line in the 0.085″-0.110″ range will get the job done, and for thicker underbrush, anything thicker than 0.110″ will work.
But in general, there are 4 different types of trimmer line:
Round. Twisted, Star-shaped, And Multi-sided (square, triangle, etc).
Line trimmers can only handle a specific range of line sizes (diameter) and it is important to get the right one for your machine. The wrong size of line will invariably slow you down. If you go too thick (i.e. heavy) it will not auto-feed in a bump head and it could cause damage to the machine in extreme cases.
Fixed head systems use individual lengths of line that are loaded or threaded into the trimmer one at a time as needed. This avoids some of the hassles of winding line onto trimmer heads and makes the overall process of dealing with trimmer line less cumbersome.
A fixed line string trimmer has a trimmer head that takes pre-cut line inserts. There is no wound spool of line in the trimmer head, the user instead feeds the pre-cut line in to the appropriate slots, making the trimmer easier to feed line into and troubleshoot than a bump feed system.
Most vehicles have rubber fuel hoses connecting the fuel pipes on the chassis to the fuel pump or carburetor on the engine. Rubber hoses are flexible and can be cut to length as required, but they have a tendency to perish over time and can rub through if not properly secured.
There`s no difference between a `strimmer` and a `trimmer`, they`re the same tool. `Strimmer` is an old trademark name that caught on, as you might say `hoover` for any vacuum cleaner or `coke` for any cola.
The thinnest trimmer line (1.2 to 2mm) is designed for short grass and low-growing plants such as ray grass and clovers. This type of nylon line can only be fitted to less powerful trimmers. Thicker trimmer line (up to 3mm) is designed for longer grass and can be used for medium-powered trimmers or brushcutters.
What is the Difference? Lawn edgers are designed to cut edges and create boundary lines, whereas a string trimmer is designed to maintain those boundary lines. They make a great team! Both can help your lawn to look sharper.
The common sizes for fuel systems are 1/8”, 1/4″, 3/8” and occasionally 1/2″. The 1/8” measures around 10mm, 1/4″ is around 13mm, 3/8” is around 17mm and 1/2” is around 21mm.
Stihl trimmer line colour coding and recommendations:
1.4 mm = grey line – for short grass / small gardens. 1.6 mm = blue line – for short grass / small gardens. 2.0 mm = green line – for short grass / small gardens. 2.4 mm = orange line – for short grass / small gardens / tall grass / large gardens.
A clipper is intended for bulk hair cutting on larger areas, but does not cut extremely close to the skin. On the other hand, a trimmer is designed for edging, outlining, dry shaving and light shaping on smaller areas such as the back of the neck, around the ears, around sideburns etc.
Single-line heads simplify winding new trimming line. Dual-line heads trim faster, cutting twice with each revolution. Bump heads feed trimming line from the spool when you tap the cutting head against the ground. Automatic-feed heads release new line as needed.
Most string trimmers have a cutting diameter of 10-15 inches, meaning that the optimal line length will be about half of that, minus the central part of the trimmer head. Most guards are equipped with a discreetly placed blade that cuts off the excess and prevents the line from getting too long.
Twisted Line Twisted lines are the most durable lines in the market. With cleaner cuts and increased resistance to wear and tear, this line shape will solve most of your trimming troubles. I`ve even heard of them lasting twice as long as average round lines!
change your trimmer head is because after a while once it gets worn down too much it`ll then struggle to feed your trimmer line. you may begin to notice this problem when you start to bump. against surfaces or it`s extremely hard for it to feed more trimmer line out have a look at.
The most common reason for the cord refusing to rewind is a broken or worn out recoil spring. This tiny spring hooks onto the pulley and is stretched out when you pull the cord; when you let go the spring is meant to snap back to its original position.
