How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Loosen the lower nut, the jam nut, on the adjustment link with a wrench, moving it clockwise to raise the front of mower, and counterclockwise to lower it. Tighten and remeasure. Repeat as necessary until the deck is adjusted properly.
For most effective results, a lawn mower deck should have a pitch of 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch between the height of the deck rear to the height of the deck front. Naturally, this makes the sweet spot about 1/4-inch of pitch, depending on the type of mower.
Using the deck-leveling gauge, check the height between the ground and the deck rim at the adjusting point one. This gauge should then just slip under the deck`s rim. If adjustments are needed on the rear left deck`s rim area, you will want to turn the rear nuts clockwise and raise the mower deck.
Always Mow at 3 Inches or Taller

Often the highest setting on most mower types is 3 inches. Mowing the grass at 3 inches or taller will prevent diseases, promote deep digging roots, help the grass conserve water, improve turf density, and improve turf color.

Mower deck gauge wheels should be properly adjusted to prevent scalping grass on uneven terrain. The bottom of the wheels should sit approximately 1/8-1/2 of an inch from the ground, depending on your cutting height.

My toro 212-5 mower keeps spitting off the deck belt
ANSWER : You may need a new one. If that doesn’t work you may have a bent pulley that’s cause it to jump off or the barrings in one of your pulleys may be bad which would cause the pulley to wobble therefore throwing the belt off.
