Why does the tractor make a clicking sound and not start? If the riding mower makes a heavy clicking or a rapid clattering sound when the key is turned to the start position, there is a problem with the battery or a part of the starting circuit. The clicking noise comes from a part called the starter solenoid.
What to Do If Your Tractor Won`t Start, Just Clicks. If your John Deere won`t crank and all you hear are clicking sounds when you turn the key, you likely have a bad battery or a bad connection somewhere between the battery and the starter. Double check that the alternator and battery connections are clean and tight.
If you don`t hear clicking when you start the engine, the problem may be a dead battery. If you hear clicking, but the engine doesn`t crank, the starter might not be getting enough electricity. Using your owner`s manual and a voltmeter, you should be able to test functionality.
One possibility is the solenoid. A single “click” sound comes from the engine compartment or from under the car. This could mean that the solenoid is trying to engage but that the internal components are stuck and unable to work properly. Repeated “clicking” sounds usually indicate a dead battery.
Touch the metal shaft of a screwdriver to both of the large terminals at the same time. If the engine turns over and starts, the solenoid is bad and should be replaced. If the starter motor does not run, the motor itself is probably defective.
The diesel engine ticking noise could be a sign of low oil level that causes the valvetrain components to not get proper lubrication. Check your oil level immediately and if it`s low, you must service your car. Another culprit causing this noise could be a faulty lifter or a bad connecting rod.
The starter relay makes a clicking sound, but the engine does not rotate, which indicates that the starter motor is not receiving enough current from the relay. This may also be a sign of low or exhausted battery power. Only when it transmits enough current to the starter, the relay starts to work.
If your tractor is making a clicking sound when you turn the ignition, this may be a sign that there is an issue with your tractor starter motor. If you hear a whirring sound it may be due to the pinion gear not engaging with the flywheel.
Touch the metal shaft of a screwdriver to both of the large terminals at the same time. If the engine turns over and starts, the solenoid is bad and should be replaced. If the starter motor does not run, the motor itself is probably defective.

Battery goes dead over night – Toro 42'' Zero Turn Lawn Mower Trailer Package Deal ()
ANSWER : First thing to do is find out if it’s the battery or the mower. Disconnect the battery and leave it overnight. If it’s dead in the morning, you need a new battery. If not, you either have a charging problem (not likely if the battery isn’t dead after using the mower) or you have a current drain.

I am having problems with the battery on my worx gt trimmer. It will not stay charged even though the battery charger indicates a green light. What am I doing wrong? I put it back on he charger it will read a red light and then switch to green after a few seconds.
ANSWER : You can determine exactly what is going on by using a small handheld voltmeter. They are inexpensive, easy to use and come in very handy. Just test the output of the charger (after noting what the volt-output-rating is) by touching the leads of the meter to the terminals on the charger. If the charger is working at all, this is not a dangerous test. Conversely, test the output of your batteries by touching the leads of the voltmeter to the terminals on them. I suspect the charger is bad because after they overheat, they quit working and some don’t last very long. I don’t think YOU are doing anything wrong, just maybe the companies that manufacture these 2 electrical products are.

Lawn mower will not start, battery not dead lights come on. Mower has been working, when turning the key I hear a click in the motor compartment…just one click each time I try to turn the engine over.
ANSWER : Sounds like either a flat battery or a loose/dirty battery cable connection. Fully charge the battery. Check the terminals on the battery, the starter solenoid, the starter motor and the battery to earth connection. There may also be an engine to chassis earth connection, check that’s clean and tight too.

Ryobi 18v One+ battery won’t hold a charge. I have two of them and neither one will hold the charge. The charger is the Ryobi 18v charger plus. I have the same problem. As soon as I put the battery in the charger (even if it is dead) the “charging”, and the “fully charged” lights both come on. Even if I leave it for a day the battery will not charge.
ANSWER : If it’s both of them then i am thinking you have a faulty charger. i have seen mine do that, i got a new charger and it worked properly.
