How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Bayer 24 Hour Grub Killer Plus Granules will only last up to 48 hours after application. Per the product label.
It contains Dylox or scientifically known as Trichlorfon as an active ingredient which eradicates grubs within 24 hours making it an effective solution for turf rescue on grub problems. Use this product only on the first sign of grubs or other listed insect pests.
You apply them once you`ve noticed grubs in the grass. They are short-lived products effective immediately. Treated grubs turn yellow or brown within a week, so reevaluate the turf the week after that to see if the chemicals have been successful.
A single application can stop and prevent grubs all season long. Apply during spring or early summer to kill grubs as they develop. Using Scotts® GrubEx®₁ Season Long Grub Killer annually can also help control Japanese beetle infestations as well as armyworms.
It is often best to put down grub preventers from April through mid-July when grubs are ready to hatch. If you want to stop grub damage right away, the best time to apply a grub killer to your lawn is when you first see signs of damage.
Can You Apply Too Much Grubex? GrubEx is a pesticide and applying too much of it will do more harm than good. The instructions on the GrubEx label suggest applying the product once per year, which should protect your lawn against grubs all season long.
1. Apply in the morning when temperatures are cooler. Many insecticides can cause damage to your plants if you spray them during the heat of the day. Applying insecticides in morning hours are best, evening hours are next best.
In most cases, though, you`ll only need to use grub control twice during the season: once as a grub killer when you notice indications of infestation and once as a grub preventer around June and July to break the cycle.
Grubs are the larvae of many kinds of beetles, such as Japanese beetles or June bugs. Grubs can be found within your lawn during the late summer months after the beetles have laid their eggs around July. Female beetles lay their eggs about one or two inches deep in the soil.
It will take 10-14 days for the grubs to begin dying after the insecticide is applied. One trichlorfon product has “24 Hour Grub Control” in its name and would seem to indicate that it will kill grubs in 24 hours.
In most cases, though, you`ll only need to use grub control twice during the season: once as a grub killer when you notice indications of infestation and once as a grub preventer around June and July to break the cycle.
