How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
If your electric chainsaw won`t start, try examining it for these issues: Not pressing the safety button at the same time as the trigger. Tripped electrical breaker (for corded chainsaws) Frayed or damaged electrical cord (for corded chainsaws)
Remove the spark plug and inspect if it is dirty, cracked, eroded, or damaged. There may also be a heavy carbon buildup or a burned-up electrode. If the spark plug has one or more of these issues, replace it with a new one.
If your saw is cordless, you need to check to see if your battery is actually charged, or is charging correctly. Rechargeable batteries can begin to lose power over time and need to be replaced. The charger itself can fail to work as well.
It ultimately comes down to the factors listed above (especially maintenance). That being said, you can expect a quality chainsaw to last you at least 10 years or more. But if you take care of it, I know people who have saws that have lasted 20-30 years and even longer.
Set your saw on the ground, placing one hand on the handlebar and your right foot into the boot grip for stability, and pull the cord slowly until you feel resistance. Then pull firmly and rapidly until the engine fires and you hear a pop or a sound like a cough. This is the sound of the engine trying to start.
If your chainsaw still starts and then stops working, check the air filter. Clean or replace the air filter if it is dirty or damaged. Another reason that your chainsaw starts and then stops working could be that the spark arrestor is dirty or clogged. If this is the case, clean it with a wire brush.
If your STIHL chainsaw is going to have a problem, it`s likely to be with a worn carburetor, bad spark plugs, loose fuel hoses, or clogged fuel lines. You should also inspect the fuel intake system and ensure that there are no compression issues.
One tell-tale sign that a chainsaw has flooded is the smell of fresh petrol near the muffler. To ascertain whether this is indeed the problem, simply disassemble the part, pull the starter cord as if you were switching on the engine, then dry it, reassemble it and try switching it on again.
If the clutch pads are worn out, the motor will run, but the clutch pads will not engage the clutch drum. As a result, the chain won`t turn. Make sure that the stop lever is disengaged. If the stop lever is engaged, the chain won`t turn.

Bad switch,replace switch
Ake 40 18s chain keeps coming off when in use
The only time I saw this was when the saw was run with the chain too loose. The chain should be snug al the way around the bar. If it is run loose for too long the chain will develop burs on the driver links. Now the driver link will not fit in the groove on the bar so the chain is tossed off. Replace with a new chain
Won’t idle ,runs wide open unless you pull choke, solutions?
Maybe a carb overhaul can do the job.
Chainsaw is new but chain will not move. Is there a safety feature causing this, or what is the problem?
All machines today will have a chainbrake, this is normally a band that comes around the clutch drum to stop the chain in the event of a kick back, to unlock the brake, pull the hand guard fully back to the top handle until you hear the click of the brake loading, there will be an amount of force required to pull the guard back.

Sounds like a valve is messed up or a piece of carbon stuck in the exhaust valve that won’t let close.Fairly easy to fix except the spring keepers a little tricky. You will have to remove head but there should be access to at least check the valves out. Thank you for using fix ya.
