The Model number is eleven characters long and is printed on the left side of the Product Identification Label. Characters can include numbers, letters or hyphens.
Disconnected, dirty or fouled spark plugs are common causes for engines that won`t start. For small engines, spark plugs typically need to be replaced every season or after 25 hours of use. You should also check to make sure the spark plug gap is set correctly.
There may be old or bad fuel in the carburetor float bowl. Over time, some of the ingredients in the fuel may evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier substance. This sticky fuel can clog up the carburetor and prevent the engine from starting. If the carburetor is clogged, try cleaning it with carburetor cleaner.
Knowing the model number of your Briggs & StrattonĀ® ride engine will make it easy to order maintenance or repair parts online or from your local dealer. The engine model number is the first 12 characters stamped into metal directly on your engine in one of two locations – on the valve cover or an aluminum tag.
Loose, Dirty or Disconnected Spark Plug in Your Lawn Mower: Check it out, clean off debris, re-connect and tighten. Dirty Air Filter: Clean or replace. Fuel Not Reaching the Engine: Tap the side of the carburetor to help the flow of gas. If this doesn`t work, you might need a new fuel filter.
Clip one end of a spark tester to the ignition cable and ground other end to the cylinder head. Spin the flywheel rapidly (at least 350 RPM) and watch for a spark in the tester window. If there`s no spark the coil will need replaced.
How Do I Identify a Briggs & Stratton Engine? The Model, Type and Code numbers, stamped directly into the engine, are used to identify our engines. Engines used in lawn mower applications usually have the model numbers stamped directly into the blower housing, muffler heat shield, or a few inches above the spark plug.
What year was my equipment built? The 5th character of our 11 character product serial numbers will indicate the last number of the year that it was manufactured. Since 5th character in the example is a 4, the year of manufacture would be a year ending in 4.
You need a clean air filter so the right amount of air can mix with the fuel to start the engine. Here`s a video that shows how to replace the air filter. If you haven`t used the riding mower for several months, drain and refill the fuel tank with fresh gas. Over time, gas absorbs water and loses combustibility.
You can easily find out what kind of engine is in your car by checking the VIN, which can be seen in the owner`s manual or under the hood. The VIN can also be found on the front of the driver`s side dashboard in most cases.
To find the model number, look for a model number sticker on the engine. The engine type code is stamped into the side of the engine, usually close to the serial number. Engine type codes may be up to 4 characters.
The engine number is found on the body of the car`s engine. Car manufacturers ensure that the number is clearly visible. It is imprinted on a metal sticker and placed in such a way that it is easy to see when you open the hood.
The engine model number is generally the number stamped into metal directly on your engine.

What type of oil is used in a yard machine lawn mower model no. 11A-414E029
ANSWER : SAE 30WT i.e non detergent. Change oil every 25 hours and every 4th oil change us a detergent 30 WT oil.

The manuals will never tell you that but having worked on small engines since the mid 60’s that 4th oil change with a detergent oil does a bang up job of keeping the oil ring from eventually cooking onto the piston. Also washes out the crank case and makes it look like new!
