the old gasket off and replace with liquid automotive gasket maker, rather than replace the entire pump unit?
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
Most likely the piston seals are leaking This is a good thing as since it leaks out it is keeping the water from entering the drive mechanism. If you can find the PUMP brand and model you can get parts fromm a place like www.pressure-washer-parts.com . The parts are inexpensive for just the seals before you ruin the complete pump. When replacing thee seals, you might as well replace the pump packing too since they wear. If you cannot find the pump numbers, then get the Troy Bilt model number and check their web site for parts. http://www.troybilt-gen-pw.com/pressure_washers/ They have parts listed there but i think they only list the complete pump not pump repair parts.
How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

These can easily be replaced, saving you the cost of a new pump. However, major leaks such as the ones caused by cracked or damaged plungers, can lead to pump failures. Plungers can be repaired or replaced, but the cost should be considered.
A pump leaking water indicates that there is something wrong such as bad water seals/packings or a broken ceramic plunger, or something minor like a leak o-ring. Any of these problems can be minor at first, but prolonged neglect can lead to bigger problems.
It may be tempting to try patching the leak, but the high-pressure water that`s carried through the hose will force that patch loose, and could even cause serious injury. While there are ways to repair a hose with the right tools and experience, it`s not recommended.
The function of O rings is to seal a joining of two pieces to ensure that no air, gas or liquid can pass. Typically, they are fitted into a groove and designed to resist pressure. The resistance is what prevents air or liquid from escaping or entering the joining.
Whether to use Buna or Viton elastomers — often referred to as O-rings, seals, or gaskets — isn`t always an easy choice. These types of elastomers are synthetic rubber parts in a pump that help prevent leakage and are critical to the durability and long-term success of a pump system.
It depends on the pressure washing equipment you purchase. New pressure washers will be rated with a number of hours they should last. For example, if it is rated 500 hours and you use it fewer than 50 hours throughout the year then it will last you more than ten years as long as you keep it well maintained.
Pressure washer water pumps need relatively low oil recommended by the manufacturer, as specified in the owner`s manual. (Purchase pre-measured bottles of pump oil for water pumps without dipsticks.) Never use special oil additives or detergents, unless specified in the owner`s manual.
Once this occurs, the coolant can leak from the water pump. You may notice a green or occasionally red color pooling in the front of your car. This is the key indicator that you have a leaking water pump. If caught early a water pump can be repaired.
A pump seal normally needs fluids to lubricate the materials around shaft. If there are no fluids available to lubricate, the seal runs dry which causes extra friction and heat. The seal will burn or melt and become damaged, which causes fluid leakage due to the pressure.
Why? This occurs when the Needle Packing Nut is too tight, compressing the Needle Packing too tightly around the Needle. This occurs when the Needle Packing nut is too loose.

How do i prime the pump on the soaper or chemical dispenser on my troy built 2550 psi pressure washer?
There is no need to prime. But you do need to use the black spray nozzle to get soap to siphon out.
if that doesn’t solve the problem let me know
Where is the thermo relief at on a 2700 troy bilt presser washer at
If equipped on the bottom side of pump.
Troy bilt pressure washer will not build or reach high pressure
Check the non-return valves in the pump block. if these are damaged or dirty you pressure will be greatly reduced. they are located behind the 3 lage brass hexagonal caps.
I hope this helps
Motor seems to be locked up!!!!!!!!
It may be your engine, but it may also be the water pressure. Try this: Hold the trigger down while pulling the recoil starter. This acts as an unloader for the pressure washer, and may allow the engine to turn over. There is also an oil level in the pump as well as the engine. Check both levels.
Just a thought, but I’ve been there. Best regards, W/D
Has no pressure, builds up when not holding trigger on gun, but when i press trigger shoots of with pressure the nothing just water comes out.
I need to tighten the drive belt between the engine and transmission on my Troy-Bilt 3312 GRS lawn tractor
I REPLACE THE DRIVE BELT AND THE MOWER STILL WON’T MOVE
What oil do i use in the pump? The oil is milky and needs changing.
Well you can use direct recommended from Ace Hardware see link.
They recommend 250 hours, but i’d change more often, like you said when it’s milky. If it begins to get water in the oil sooner, that indicates your piston to crankcase seal is beginning to leak.
