How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Rubber seals or o rings are common culprits behind leaks. Check for damage and replace tired seals. Use one that fits your model or you risk further problems.
If the machine is pulsing whilst in use, it may be that the accessory you are using has a blockage. Clear by soaking the accessory in warm soapy water and then rinsing out under the tap.
Common Causes & Signs of Oil Leaks

Common causes of oil leaks include degraded engine gaskets, leaks from the oil pan, or improper or worn out seals. An oil leak also can be caused by a loose or missing oil pan drain plug or deteriorated valve cover gaskets.

One of the easiest ways to fix the leak yourself is to use a stop leak additive or high mileage oil blend. Such products can soften and condition your car`s rubber seals to stop and prevent further automotive leaks. It may take up to a few hundred miles of driving before the leak is completely sealed.
Gas Pressure Washer: Why does water spray out of my pressure washer`s pressure relief valve? If the pressure washer runs for more than 5 minutes when the spray wand isn`t in use, the water in the pump often overheats, causing the thermal relief valve to open and discharge hot water onto the ground.
The leak is caused by the filter screen in the clear adapter protruding too far into the threaded section which doesn`t allow a water tight connection on the water inlet. The fix: Make sure the clear adapter is attached to the water inlet and NOT the blue/black adapter. To confirm the clear adapter is the problem.
How Do I Tell If My Unloader Valve is Bad? In most occurrences, the first symptom of an unloader valve going bad is no pressure from the wand when the trigger is pressed. This happens when the unloader valve gets stuck open and does not allow water to enter the hose and trigger.
Essentially, an unloader valve is a safety switch. It sends pressurized water into a by-pass by cycling it from the outlet side of the pump to an inlet or water tank. This process depressurizes the water and prevents pressure from building up while the pressure washer machine is idling.
What Is the Unloader Valve? A compressor unloader valve is a small part, typically measuring approximately 4-5 inches in length and width. It performs the critical function of releasing trapped air inside the tank, enabling the motor to restart.
If you notice that your vacuum pump is leaking oil, the seals are probably worn out and need replacing. Not only will that fix the leak problem, new seals will also allow the pump to maintain the appropriate oil levels, which in turn reduces the need for frequent changing.

If the washing machine transmission is failing oil may show up on the floor below the washer and, depending on which seals fail, possibly inside the washer and on clothings. Mike: oil on the floor usually means a leaking transmission. The usual repair is to replace that component.

Oil leaking from within body of washer after half hours use and after switching off.. Oil is clean.
ANSWER : This is noticed on the Karcher washer and does not need any attention unless you are having a large spill over or leak. The oil oozes out when the pressure washer works for some time and is a result of a pressure leak when the washer is used for sometime.
I had seen this happen on mine for sometime , checked on all sides for any damage but there was none. So ignored but cleaned off the leak and was not seen then.

I have a Winner 108 pressure washer. I think it’s owned by Karcher. I was dismantling it to get the faulty run capacitor out, and when i pulled the housing off, it leaked out about 50ml of oil. What oil, and how much, do i need to replace it?
ANSWER : The oil is there to lubricate the pistons as they are pushed by the swash plate. This oil is usually normal multi- grade engine oil. In bigger machines, grade 90 oil is used. If you are not sure, get some multi-grade and 90 oil, and test with your hand. It should be very easy to see the difference. When filling, see that at least the pistons with the springs are getting wet with oil. Important not to overflow the oil. This overflow, might cause pressure and oil will get out of the seals and mix with the water. On the other hand, the seals must be renewed once you opened the oil side. This because water can enter through the seals and mix with the oil.

MG.
