Engine: 300 Series 148cc Briggs & Stratton/4.50` lbs. Gross Torque brand: Weed Eater.
As a general rule, you should change the spark plug approximately every 100 hours.
Light: 0.065- to 0.080-inch line is best for trimming grass around the house and whacking down common lawn weeds from around driveways, walkways and fences. Medium: 0.080 to 0.110-inch line is best for homes with larger lawns, or gardens overgrown with weeds that have tough, heavy stems. Heavy: 0.110-inch and above.
For light work, such as trimming grass, 0.065″-0.085″ should be sufficient. For thicker grass and weeds, a line in the 0.085″-0.110″ range will get the job done, and for thicker underbrush, anything thicker than 0.110″ will work.
2-stroke engines are generally used in handheld lawn equipment because the power per weight is greater than 4-stroke engines; this means that a smaller engine will pack more power than a smaller 4-stroke engine.
Rotary push-behind mowers typically come with a two-stroke or four-stroke internal combustion engine. Internal combustion is one way energy is generated. Here, combustion is when a chemical change happens inside a controlled chamber within the engine that results in heat, or mechanical energy.
The higher the number, the more power they offer. Battery-powered models work well on lawns up to an acre, depending on your level of power. Use a machine with 20-40 volts for up to ½ acre, or from 40-80 volts for up to an acre. If your lawn is over an acre, you may want to consider a gas-powered machine.
The gap setting is different for each vehicle but most are somewhere between 0.028″ and . 060″. Consult the owner`s manual or Champion ® catalog to find the recommended setting for the vehicle you`re working on.
For most racing applications, you usually want the plug gap to be between 0.020 and 0.040 of an inch. Most engine builders seem to settle around 0.035 of an inch. Factors such as the type of ignition you run, cylinder heads, fuel and even timing can affect how much gap will work best for you.
But if the spark gap is too small, there won`t be enough room for the airfuel mixture between the ground electrode and center electrode. So when the spark plug fires, there`s a possibility that nothing ignites. A wide gap between the center electrode and ground electrode allows for a strong, clean burn.
