How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

If you`re still wondering what the best combination is, we recommend starting with something in the 3000 – 3500 PSI/2.0 – 2.5 GPM range. These pressure washers are good for most homeowners, as they tend to work very efficiently and are still affordable.
Generally, contractors or professional cleaners will find that they prefer a higher GPM machine over PSI since they use cleaning solutions to loosen grime instead of relying fully on PSI, their job primarily becomes one of rinsing the dirt away. The higher the GPM the faster it will be to clean large surfaces.
Another factor that`s equally as important, but not often considered, is the gallons per minute rating (GPM). This measures how much water your pressure washer puts out per minute, and more water equals faster cleaning.
You should also never set your pressure washer above 2,200 psi when washing your car. 1,500 psi is really all you need to get a good deep clean; any pressure higher than that won`t make a noticeable performance difference.
When the nozzle isn`t choked, the flow through it is entirely subsonic and, if you lower the back pressure a little, the flow goes faster and the flow rate increases. As you lower the back pressure further the flow speed at the throat eventually reaches the speed of sound (Mach 1).
PSI can`t be directly converted to GPM; these are two different units of measure. PSI measures pressure and GPM measures flow rate. But if other variables are known, the water`s flow rate in GPM can be calculated with the help of the Bernoulli equation for incompressible fluid and careful unit conversion.
Divide the flow rate measured in GPM by the area and take the square of the result. Multiply the value from step 2 with the density of water and divide by 2. Add the atmospheric pressure to the result from step 3, and you will get the pressure in PSI.
Gallons Per Minute (GPM) – Water flow is measured in GPM. The higher the GPM, the more surface area a pressure washer can clean in a minute. If Washer A has a 2GPM rating and Washer B has a 4GPM rating, Washer B will clean twice as quickly because it uses 2x as much water every minute for cleaning.

I have used the McCulloch (FH180A) three times over the course of two years. On my fourth use the pressure washer just surged on and off and I would get a tiny spray from the gun each time it surged. In other words it would do nothing. Please help… very frustrated. Thanks
ANSWER : Sounds like the problem could be low input water flow or pressure. There could be crud on the intake where you hook up the garden hose, there could be some other sort of blockage. Try hooking it up to the hose and pull the trigger (with the power switched off) and wait to see if water comes out the tip. Also look at the tip(s) themselves. sometimes a piece of crud gets into the hose and then clogs the tip.

1750 psi Electric Pressure Washer: My pressure washer is losing pressure and is pulsa…
ANSWER : If the pressure washer is pulsating then that is a sign of check valve failure. You may be able to clean of replace the check valves. Replacing the head is the wrong way to go. This is completely unnecessary. If you can tell me the model number of your pressure washer then I can assist you better in pointing you in the right direction.
