Problem: The pressure washer is pulsing.

If the machine is pulsing whilst in use, it may be that the accessory you are using has a blockage. Clear by soaking the accessory in warm soapy water and then rinsing out under the tap.

The number one cause of low or no pressure when using a pressure washer is a blocked or worn nozzle. Blocked nozzles will prevent water from escaping, while a worn nozzle will allow too much water to pass through, causing the pressure to drop.
Surging occurs when the pressure is fine and then weakens. It is caused when the flow rate for the pump cannot be supported by the water supply. Problems can mount from there so it is important that it is dealt with as soon as possible.
Pulsation generally occurs when a liquid`s motive force is generated by reciprocating or peristaltic positive displacement pumps. It is most commonly caused by the acceleration and deceleration of the pumped fluid. This uncontrolled energy appears as pressure spikes.
Heavy-duty tasks like stripping paint or removing graffiti require 2,800 psi or higher and a gpm of 3 to 4 (8,400+ ECUs). Commercial-grade pressure washers, intended for regular use and built and powered accordingly, start at 3,100 psi.
The engine of your pressure washer may rev sporadically because it is experiencing an intermittent blockage of the air that it needs to function properly. The first thing that you should do is to check the air filter for clogs caused by debris or dirt. Clean out any clogs that you find and the erratic revving may stop.
You could have a faulty lid or water level switch, or your hot and cold water supplies could be turned off or have kinks in the hoses. A clogged water inlet screen or a malfunctioning electronic control could also be the reason a washer isn`t filling with water.
The most probable cause is a clogged pump filter. The pump filter should be cleaned every three months or when it`s clogged. This filter is installed to catch foreign objects like buttons or coins, and to prevent these items from entering the drain hose.
There could be small leaks, holes, or tears in your garden hose or high-pressure hose that are causing your pressure washer to lose pressure when you pull the trigger. If you find leaks, plug the holes or replace the hose, which should solve your pressure issues.

Since I have heard that Stucco should not be pressure washed at greater than 800 psi, how should I use my non-adjustable 1500 psi Karcher Washer for this job?
ANSWER : You can keep a greater distance from the stucco in order to not have the full contact pressure on the surface. Then if it is not doing a good job move closer to the surface. Another option is to buy a vario lance for your model.

On high pressure it pulsates – Karcher K2.26 Electric Power Washer
ANSWER : First you have to do is try the machine without load. Attach everything as usual but do not attach the lance. Put on machine with water supply already on. If you close the gun the machine should stop. If you open the gun ( always with out lance)….the machine should start sending the water a bit far. If this is OK….then you have a lnance with a faulty, blocked NOZZEL.NOrmally the machine stops when gun is released because there is a valve (Spill Valve) that actuates a electrical micro switch. This in turn closes off te electric supply…stopping the machine. If with out lance your problem is still there….then the spill valve is faulty and the machine starts pulsating. AS I first said you must be sure that the nozzel is OK, so that you can blame the Spill Valve. When the spill valve is faulty the machine pulsates at high pressure.I raely service Spill Valves (Control Valves). I change with a new one. When open the cover using a TORX T15 screw driver….you locate the spill valve where there are 2 wires coming out. Some machines have the spill valve incorporated with the head and the intake and delivery valves unit. This I advize to change with new parts. These all in one heads are very good because at one go you change the spill valve and the other valves in one go.Therefore in a few words you either have a blocked nozzel…or you have the spill valve faulty. So I advice again to try the machine with out the lance. If when gun is closed machine stops and stays that way ..it means the spill valve is doing its job. If when putting back the lance and the pressure starts to pulsates…the lance nozzel is faulty and thus causing simptyms on the spill valve. Also try to use machine with a new lance…having a new nozzel.Fulltech.

Karcher 360M pressure washer pulsating problem when idleing
ANSWER : Hello,

unfortunately these little units have this problem commonly, 9 times out of 10 it will be the plastic head or the plastic valve block on the unit will be cracked and leaking slightly… it builds up pressure then leaks out and tries to build up the pressure again and this just reoccurs over and over…you can get this repaired but is normally about half the cost of a new unit, if the pressure is still okay i would probably recommend just keep using it until it proper dies…If you do get this fixed, we have studied into this and believe the main cause of heads cracking is warm water say if your inlet hose is in the sun for a period of time this can cause the water to become quite hot or if the unit sits and water trapped inside the head assy freezes can also cause this.

Hope this helps
Kind Regards
Brad
