ANSWER : There is a valve on the water pump called an unloader valve, when this valve sticks open it will not allow the pressure to build. This valve is designed to recirculate the water when you release the trigger so you don’t damage the pump. Go to jackssmall engine repair.com and type in the model # of your unit and it will give you a parts breakdown so you can see where the unloader vale is located or if you have the manual for your unit look in that. Remove and clean. If this doesn’t work you may have to replace it.

ANSWER : Hello:Here is a schematic. On page 2.1, part #1 is the unloader valve. You need to remove it and lube it with a very good waterproof grease. Also insure the O-rings are in good shape and the spring action is working.

How do i get the unloader valve out of a karcher pump
ANSWER : If you have a black cap on the top of your pump, the unloader is under that. It is called a spill valve and they sometimes can be a real pain to remove. I usually take a drill and drill a 3/32nd hole in the top of the valve, screw a long screw into the hole and use pliers on the screw to pull it out. You may have to try several times before you get it out. If you don’t have a black cap on the top I would need to know the model # of your machine to help.

I have a Karcher G2500HT. When I pull the trigger the pump will not engage. I pulled the pump off, checked the seals, and cleaned the screen. When I put it back on there was no leakage but the pump still will not engage though the water flows freely. I’ve been told by a service department that it could be the unloader valve. Could you explain to me how to service this part if it can be serviced.
ANSWER : I would have to agree with your service department. The unloader valve works like this, When you press the trigger it closes and allows the water to build pressure through the pump. When you let off the trigger the valve opens and by-passes the water through the pump so you don’t damge the pump. If this valve is sticking and remaining open the pressure will not build. You can remove this valve and clean relubricate with white lithium grease just a coating and this should clear up your problem. Check the port that the valve sits in and if you see gunk just clean with carburetor cleaner and blow it out with air compressor. A new unloader valve can cost between $40.00 – $60.00. Try to clean first before you buy a new one. The valve is usually located near the outlet that you connect your pressure hose to. If you can’t find it go to jackssmallenginerepair.com and do a parts look up for your machine and you will see where this valve is located. Hope this helps.

ANSWER : The cart body makes this process a little confining but it can be carried out without removing the pump from the motor.

Refer to assembly 9 in the diagram. Remove the splash cup by working the push-on nut off the top of the cup.
Remove two Torx fasteners (13) and twist the nylon valve retainer gently while pulling up to remove it. Be aware of the small parts under the retainer.
The objective is to get the valve (12) out of the bore (A). Connect the hose and wand to the pump, make sure the wand valve is closed. Connect the water supply to the pump and turn on the water flow.
Place a shop towel over the valve bore and with the throttle in the off position, pull the start cord briskly several times to see if enough pressure builds to pop the valve out of the bore. If not, set the throttle to low and start the engine. Unless the valve bore is really corroded, this should pop the valve out.
If this process fails, you may have to unmount the pump and employ a more brutal approach that will likely require a new valve.
I have worked on my washer for the last 2-3 years to keep it going but I’ve opted to replace the pump this year. My replacement is an “AR RMV2G25D” (~$170) .
