So there you have it! It`s really not difficult to put up a gazebo yourself, and yes, you can install a gazebo on grass. While it would be nice to have a patio or deck to put it up on, it`s not required.
Gazebos without floors should be placed on a concrete foundation. Most gazebos can also be placed on existing concrete, but check with your gazebo builder to be sure and ensure there is a proper amount of drainage for the structure to stay dry.
Be sure to approach the gazebo as close as possible to the center of the base. Then you can jack it up. Once you lift the center, all the weight becomes distributed evenly. Next, you can slide two 4×6 boards under the gazebo but make sure they have split evenly apart with one on each side.
Grab two legs of the gazebo each and lift the frame off the ground. Take a small step back and allow the gazebo frame to open. Make sure not to pull too hard since that action can bend the frame. Now you can push the top and the bottom of the diamond frame by the side supports together to lock them in place.
Generally speaking, you want to put your gazebo in an area that`s away from plants and trees. First of all, placing a gazebo close to trees — which provide valuable shade — doesn`t make a whole lot of sense. It`s better to put your pavilion in an area that doesn`t already benefit from shady areas.
