I have a john deere LT 133 lawn mower. When shifting I heard a “ting” and then it wouldn’t go into gear. Engine runs, deck works, it just won’t go into gear. I changed the drive belt because it was very loose. It still won’t go into gear. How tight does the drive belt need to be? What else should I be looking for? It appears the transmission is working because while in gear I pushed the mower forward the the pully under the seat did turn.

The John Deere LT133 was produced from 1998 to 2001. It came equipped with either a gear drive transmission, 38″ Mower Deck and 13hp Kohler Engine.
