Tell the customer service representative the model number and serial number of your blue Homelite chainsaw, and ask her to provide you with the date the chainsaw was manufactured.
The year 1963 saw the introduction of the world`s first “lightweight” chainsaw, the magnesium-alloy framed Homelite XL-12; the numeral twelve denoting that the power-head weighed a mere twelve pounds. This saw is widely regarded as one of the most recognizable and well-known chainsaws of all time.
Where do I find my serial number? Most serial numbers are stamped in the motor housing or crankcase to the left or right of the muffler looking down from the top on a flat surface. They will in most cases be 9 digits long and begin with the number 1, 2 or 5.
Engine size is measured in cubic centimeters (cc) or cubic inches. In general, the bigger the number, the more powerful the engine.

The 2-stroke 37cc engine is tough enough to handle all branches, firewood, and other common sawing applications.
The recommended fuel mixture is a 50-to-1 ratio of unleaded gasoline and two-cycle engine oil, and the manufacturer recommends the use of a two-cycle oil that contains fuel stabilizer to keep the mixture fresh if you are not using it immediately.
XL12 (UT-10515) Homelite Chainsaw – Overview.
On this bar “50” means it`s a . 050 gauge. The final set of numbers show how many drive links are in the chainsaw chain that will run on that specific bar. This bar has “72” stamped, so it would need a 72 drive link chain.

Homelite 33cc 16″ UT109470 not using oil (auto oiling system)
ANSWER : Hey secureman777……….I have a Homelite 330, and I had the same problem. On mine, there is a rubber tube with a metal screen on the end inside the chain oil reservoir. The screen got all gunked up and wouldn’t allow the oil to get sucked up by the oil pump. To get to it, you need to drain the oil and you should be able to see it down at the bottom of the reservoir. I used a long magnet to bring it out of the tank so I could clean it. That’s all mine needed. I hope yours is that simple. It could also be the diaphragm inside the oil pump. If your saw isn’t too old, they probably still sell the diaphragm. My saw is a 1981 and they don’t make the diaphragm any more……………Good luck with your saw.

What is the mix for my Homelite 16″ 33cc chainsaw?
ANSWER : 50:1 is the fuel to oil ratio. Never use petroleum oil (engine or boat motor oil). Always use a synthetic saw oil available from home centers, hardware stores and saw dealers. The bottles are usually graduated to various ratios for a gallon of fresh gas. Always premix in it’s own container and shake the container thoroughly each time just before filling the tank to prevent oil starvation. Be sure to use bar/chain oil for the chain as well, and keep the chain sharp and well adjusted. Hope this helps!

Does anyone know the carb. setting for a Homelite 45cc chainsaw. Or set up procedure??
ANSWER : Start 1.5 CCW from lighty seated then do as the link suggests.
Carburetor Adjustment by Madsens.com
http://www.madsens1.com/saw%20carb%20tune.htm
CW is leaner; to lean will destroy the saw. If over tightened closed (CW) the adjustment screw faces are easily marred; marred adjustments are difficult to impossible to set properly.Clean the air filter; adjusting with a dirty filter can cause a run lean condition once cleaned and the saw run.
There are 2 wav (sound – idle & full – may not be highlighted) files that I find most helpful, I think you will too.
