With time, metal-winged gas caps develop rust. This rust can cause the cap to become stuck on your lawn mower. So, spraying it with WD-40 should help get the cap on and off smoothly.
Use high quality detergent oils such as “For Service SF, SG, SH, SJ” or higher. You can also use synthetic oils, which are acceptable at all temperatures.
Two thousand hours is generally the number you`ll hit without any major repairs. One guy hit 7,000 on a Ferris when another guy`s Exmark only hit half of that. My cousin`s Ferris started having problems at 1,800 hours.
How much refueling is required for zero turn mowers? Zero turn mowers with a 60-inch mower deck can cut on average up to 3.5 hours (Z500 Series) or up to 8 hours (Z700 Series) before refueling, based on an average of one acre per hour.
In many circumstances, the problem that causes a gas cap to be stuck is caused by one of three things: A mechanical defect in the gas cap. User error on installing the gas cap. A mechanical defect in the gas tank filler neck.
Causes of a jammed/stuck fuel door:
Damaged release cable – In most vehicles, a cable runs from your fuel door lever to the fuel cap door. If this cable snaps or becomes loose, there will be no connection and the fuel door will not open. It will need to be replaced in order to open your fuel door.
One overlooked aspect in lawn mower maintenance is how frequent oil changes should take place. Engine oil and oil filters should be replaced at least once every spring or summer, or every 50 hours of use – whichever comes first.
How Many Hours Should A Riding Mower Last? Most riding mowers last between 500-700 hours, although some can run for as much as 1,000 hours if cared for and maintained properly.
Does Ferris make good zero-turn mowers? Yes, Ferris makes good zero-turn mowers. In fact, most of their products run on powerful Briggs and Stratton and Kawasaki engines.
A Z42 zero-turn riding mower at 6 mph (top speed is 7 mph) can mow one acre of turf in 29 min. (24 minutes at 7 mph). That equates to about 16 acres in an average 8 hour working day (20 acres at 7 mph).
A new lawn battery should last between three and five years. In order to achieve that, however, it`s important to perform regular maintenance. Here are a few tips to help you get the longest life possible out of your battery.
Zero-turn mowers have dual-hydrostatic transmissions controlled by two levers, which are key factors in their responsiveness and tight turning radius. To move forward in a straight line, you press both levers forward, making sure to keep them even.

Blade belt diagram for an is 2000 61 inch – Ferris IS2000 61"" Zero Turn Lawn Mower 5900586"
ANSWER : I don’t have a diagram but we just had to replace our belt and Here’s how we did it. Note that the shiny gold/silver pulleys make contact with the flat side of the belt while the black pulleys make contact with the u-shaped side of the belt. If you look at the pulleys you will see they have different shapes to correspond with the different shape on each side of the belt. The drive pulley at the back makes contact with the u-shaped side of the belt.Release the tension spring and thread the belt. Belt slips under the middle back pulley with the tension spring released. Then use a spring pulling tool (there is such a thing) or another method to pull the tension spring back over the bolt. Ensure belt is threaded properly with no twisting and nothing caught in the pulleys before firing it up.Hope that helps.

I have a husqvarna 323L string trimmer. I stored it after running the tank & carb dry for about two years. I fueled it, then started it, & it ran for a minute then died like I turned the switch off. Since it would not restart, I found the fuel filter had broken off the hardened fuel line & it sucked gummy crap out of the tank & into the carb. Failing at cleaning the carb, I finally put a new carb on it & replaced the pump, hoses & filter. It has ran good till this year. I winterized it with stabilizer & left it with a full tank over the winter. The gas in the tank was gone when I got ready to use it this year. I filled the tank with premix, checked for leaks, then started it. It would run fine for about half a tank, start idling poorly (lean) then cutoff & refuse to restart till I refilled the tank. I finally found the tank had cracks & was letting pressure out of the tank & apparently this was causing the carb to lose it’s ability to siphon gas out of the tank. So I replaced the tank which came with new hoses & a filter, which I properly installed to the carb. It cranked right up, but when it runs a half tank, the carb quits sucking gas out of the tank. When I pump to prime the carb, it moves the fuel into the carb, but the pump never gets hard like it does when I prime the carb when the motor is cold. I have to keep refilling the tank, prime, & then it starts & runs until the tank gets about half empty. The new fuel filter is down in the gas tank properly, but It will not run after it shuts off until I refill the tank & prime. I’m baffled. New tank, new hoses, new filter, new carb, & I can find no leaks in the fuel system. It runs strong. The 323L is a two-stroke & it always cranks on the second pull from cold on a full tank. Any ideas?
