If your chainsaw still starts and then stops working, check the air filter. Clean or replace the air filter if it is dirty or damaged. Another reason that your chainsaw starts and then stops working could be that the spark arrestor is dirty or clogged. If this is the case, clean it with a wire brush.
If the spark plug produces a spark and you are still having difficulties starting your chainsaw, it`s time to check the gap. The spark plug gap is an air gap between the ground electrode and the center electrode. If the gap is too small, the spark struggles to ignite the fuel and air mixture.
The carburetor might be clogged and needs to be cleaned.

A chainsaw`s carburetor mixes air and fuel to start the internal combustion engine. If fuel has been left in the engine for too long, it can become sticky and clog the carburetor, preventing it from starting. If the clog is minor, clean out the carburetor.

A dirty carburetor, bad gasoline and low-quality two-stroke oil that creates deposits all contribute to chainsaw starting problems.
Check the air filter and spark plug on the Husqvarna 350. If the air filter is clogged or dirty, clean it or replace it with a new one from Husqvarna or an online parts house. You can test this by trying to start the saw without the air filter. Some parts houses offer maintenance kits that include the filter.
Answer: The most common source of trouble when the engine cranks but won`t start is the ignition or fuel system. Make sure you got enough fuel pressure and good spark. Also, a faulty sensor (crankshaft position sensor or camshaft sensor on some models or throttle position sensor) may cause this problem as well.
If the filter becomes clogged, not enough fuel will reach the engine for it to run properly. Because your chainsaw will idle, but dies when it is revved up to full power, it means that the filter is only partially clogged; it will allow enough fuel to the engine to run on idle, but not enough to sustain full throttle.
The engine is likely to stall when the filter gets plugged with dirt and dust as too much air is filtered which deprives the engine of adequate air which is necessary for combustion. The air filter on a chainsaw is located at the rear. Loosen the fasteners and remove the filter to inspect for any dirt.

Husqvarna 345e Hard to start and when it does start it continues to run (chain).
ANSWER : I have a model 435 Husky that had the same hard-to-start problem–warranty service replaced the carburetor and it seems to work ok now. The chain that continues to turn can be fixed by turning the idle-speed screw (not the H or L jet screws) CCW a small amount until it can be accelerated then dropped back to idle to quit driving the chain. Hope this helps!

Husqvarna Model 136 chainsaw will only run for a short time with choke closed. Engine quits shortly after choke is opened.
ANSWER : Take apart the fueling system and carb. Something is blocking or gummed up. One thing that sometimes works is to remove air filter, rev the unit up, and place hand fully over the intake, and remove before unit stalls. This sometimes will clear the blockage.
