How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
McCulloch recommends “Universal powered by McCulloch two-stroke oil”. The petrol/oil ratio must be 50:1.
Most modern chainsaws, string trimmers, leaf blowers and other small-engine two-stroke equipment recommend a 50:1 oil mix ratio, but some recommend 40:1 and older two-stroke equipment might even call for 32:1.
1:25 = 1 part oil + 25 parts petrol, or 40 ml oil per litre of petrol when using other brands of oil. Any two-stroke engine oil you use in your petrol gardening tool must have the TC classification.
Fuel line. 15 Inches of of 1/4 inch inside diameter hose.
Fuel lines are made of durable metal, plastic materials and though they are located in the undercarriage of the vehicle, and seemingly in a vulnerable position, they are placed in areas that cannot be damaged due to elements, road conditions, or exposure to heat from the engine`s exhaust or other components.
For a mixing ratio of 1 : 50 you need 5 litres of petrol and 0.10 litres (100cm³) of STIHL two-stroke oil.

Will only run on choke – McCulloch 16 Inch Gas Chain Saw MCC1635AK
Its running too lean, start with easy stuff first, replace the fuel filter in the tank, check the condition of the fuel hose up to the carb, any signs of damage or leak, then replace.

Replaceing fuel line in polan 3300 chain saw – Poulan Pro 42CC 2 Cycle Chainsaw, 18"
Use a piece of wire and insert it into the fuel line, then bend a hook in the end and hook it over the end of the fuel line…lubricate the fuel line with some vaseoline very lightly…about the first one inch of the fuel line and then use your fingers to start the fuel line into the tank, once you have the fuel line in the tank give enough to hook the fuel filter to and so it can be dropped back into the tank.
Below is a drawing of how to route the fuel lines.

Dont know what type off oil to put in the bar and chain tank on the chainsaw
Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly
All Bar oils are SAE 30W non-detergent oil. Go down to the local auto parts supply and buy the cheapest SAE 30W you can find…. SAE 30W is SAE 30W regardless of what brand is on it and for bar oil it is not an issue.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Need fuel flow path from filter in tank to primer or carburater(lower or upper port and then return path to tank model 5316 mac chainsaw
Not familiar with this model, however most machine work like this, fuel line from the tank with the filter on the end goes to the main fuel in on the carb, the conection nearest to the pump side of the carb usually alloy with a single screw fixing, the other conection on the carm from the metering side goes to the short conection on the primer, the suction side, the longer conection on the primer is the pressure side and returns to the tank, with all primers they pull fuel from the carb and dump back to the tank, not the other way round.
How to replace the fuel primer bulb and fuel lines in McCulloch 3516 chainsaw?
the fuel primer bulb broke and the plastic lines have crumbled. i need to know how to run the lines from the fuel tank to primer bulb to carurator.
I just did a primer bulb not too long ago, but I don’t remember what equipment it was on. They are generally easy to replace. First, remove anything that is retaining the bulb assembly, such as cover plate. On my Homelite chainsaw, I simply pried it out with a small screwdriver.
The replacement part itself has two barbed stubs that the two fuel line hoses push onto.
Make sure that you keep the fuel line tubes above the fuel level at all times to prevent leakage.
Have a Mac 3214, fuel lines were rotten, replaced lines spark plug and air filter. Started saw ran fine. Shut off saw, heard a girgling sound took off carb cover had fuel filling carb above throttle blade, now saw will not restart. When I took off fuel cap fuel stopped coming in. Could I have a fuel or air circuit plugged or could my needle not be at the right height?
The fuel metering needle in the lower carburetor chamber may have a bad rubber tip or the rubber diaphragm may be hard or cracked. McCullough fuel tanks vent through the cap (it should not have a gasket). Gravity plays no part in the carburetor fuel volume. Remove the spark plug (ignition off) and pull the engine through a few times without the choke on, but the throttle wide open to remove excess fuel in the crankcase (no smoking during this procedure). Make sure the plug is dry when you put it back. Hope this helps!
Chain saw, there is a line from primer to the carb, then what? I cant tell if coming out of the carb it goes back to primer or in the fuel tank? Then should there be a line from fuel tank to the primer?
Similar to this, typical fuel system.
Fuel Line Replacement by SmallEng.com
The hose in the tank with the filter on the free end connects directly to the carburetor input connection.
If the saw is equipped with a primer bulb, an output line from the carburetor connects to the suction side of the primer (once the bulb is collapsed it draws fuel from the tank through the carburetor to refill as it inflates).
The pressure side of the primer returns displaced fuel to the tank as it is depressed.
Take lots of notes and a few digital photographs to help with reassembly. HTH
