All Weed Eater brand two-cycle gas trimmers use a 40:1 ratio of gas to oil. That`s equal to 3.2 ounces of oil to 1 gallon of regular gas.
According to Manuals Online, Craftsman trimmers take SAE 30 motor oil, which is the same type of oil you put in your car.
Place the trimmer on a raised flat surface such as a workbench, with the trimmer head hanging over the edge. Pour 3/8 cup of SAE 30 SF motor oil into the oil fill hole. Insert a funnel into the oil fill hole, if necessary, to help pour the oil without spilling it on the engine.
SAE 10W-30 4-Cycle Lawn Mower Oil (20 oz)
Synthetic oils are an acceptable oil at all temperatures. The use of synthetic oil does not alter required oil change intervals.
One gallon of gasoline combined with 3.2 oz of two-cycle engine oil. Unsure of the age of your equipment? Use the 40:1 mixture. All of our handheld two-cycle units can operate on a 40:1 two-cycle oil mix ratio.
Many contemporary Craftsman chain saws are manufactured by Poulan and operate smoothly with a 50:1 fuel-oil mixture.
Clean and fresh gasoline should be used in the fuel tank of a four-stroke engine. The gasoline should be a minimum of 87 octane, and up to 10 percent ethanol(fuel with no ethanol best). As far as motor oil a quality 10W30 will normally suffice, always best to check your manual.

What type of oil does it use? – Troy-Bilt 4-Cycle Curve Shaft Gas String Trimmer #41ADT41C966
ANSWER : I think all of these 4-stroke trimmers use SAE 30HD oil. I recommend synthetic. If you use synthetic, you can get away with using a multi-viscosity like 10W-30 if you can’t find straight SAE30 synthetic, but don’t use muti-viscosity conventional oil in these machines.
