A. SAFETY PROCEDURES
1) A face shield is recommended when operating a mitre saw. 2) Do not wear a glove on your trigger hand; you may wear a snug fitting glove on your other hand. 3) Do not use the saw in a damp or wet location. 4) Do not over reach, keep proper footing and balance at all times.
Wear a respirator or good quality dust mask when using the motorized miter saw for extended periods. 1. Make a trial cut on a piece of scrap material before attempting final cuts to make sure the saw is cutting properly and that the miter and bevel angles are set accurately.
Projectiles/flying objects – The high speed blade can cause kick back and move the saw violently. In addition, work pieces, cutoffs, dust and chips can become projectiles. Proper PPE must be worn at all times and do not make adjustments unless the tool is off and the blade is at a complete stop.
What safety precautions should you follow when using a mitre saw? Wear safety glasses or goggles, or a face shield (with safety glasses or goggles). If work is dusty, use a dust extraction system, and/or respirator or dust mask. Wear appropriate hearing protection.
Safety glasses are required. Never saw without piece against supports. Never adjust saw or setup while saw is running. Always follow 4 inch rule.
Like many cutting tools, miter saws typically feature a piece of plastic that covers the blade. Known as a blade guard, it`s an important safety feature. The blade guard creates a barrier between your hands and the miter saw`s blade.
Maintain a 6” MINIMUM margin of safety at all times. Small pieces may not be cut on the miter saw if your hands cannot be a safe distance away from the blade.
o Wear eye protection. o Keep hands out of path of saw blade o Do not operate saw without guards in place. o Do not perform any operation freehand. o Never reach around saw blade. o Turn off tool and wait for saw blade to stop before moving workpiece or changing settings. o Disconnect power (or unplug tool as …
Always use the saw guard, splitter (if equipped), and anti-kickback device. If a splitter is available, make sure it is aligned with the blade before being used.
1) Wear safety glasses, goggles or a face shield at all times while using the saw. 2) If the cutting operation is dusty, wear a dust mask. 3) Do not wear gloves while operating a table saw.

I have a 10″ compound mitre saw model# 55-6802-6, the spring which connects the safety guard to the lowering arm has broken resulting in the guard not lifting when I lower the blade to make a cut. I am wondering if i can get a replacement spring, and if so I need to know where to attach it inside the saw housing?
I would like to replace the mulching blades on my Sears Craftsman riding mower with regular cutting blades. I can find plenty of sources for new mulching blades, but not cutting blades. My mower is a model 917.259541 tractor and the blades currently on it are part #134149. I want to make sure I get the right size to replace them. Also, is there a source for a bagging system for this mower, that won’t cost as much as one from Sears?
The straight blade for the 42 inch mower is 138971.They cut better and are easier to sharpen and you will need them if you use a gass catcher. If you do not want to use sears for parts you may be able to find good deals on ebay.
How to remove the blade on a tiger saw quick-change,model#737?
At the base of the blade where it attaches in the saw you will see a round in shape with ridges fixture. Turn it so the slot is in line with the blade. Then you will be able to remove the blade. If the fixture does not turn, move the blade up and down while you turn the fixture.
Bad Clutch?? 455 rancher 20″ bar) I have owned it for two years and cut tons of fire wood with it. I recently replaced the oil pump. Yesterday I’m cutting oak like butter. Chain saw is cutting fine.. For no apparent reason it starts struggling to cut. I figure I hit something with the chain. I go to sharpen and notice that the clutch it’s red hot. I take it apart clean it up sharpen it up put it back together fire it up and start to cut. It starts to cut on angle and has no power?? runs fine revving it but will not cut?? What do you think?
Hi Before other checking change the spring of the clutch(2). best regards savumihai71
I have a 20″ bar chain saw (51 Air Injection)
The part no. of the spring is 501763101 it comes in a plastic keeper so is very easy to fit, check the web for sellers.
I was using the saw as a chain saw last weekend to cut up an old tree stump when the chain came off. I don’t know how to access it to put it back on and don’t have a user manual. The saw belonged to my late father and I don’t know if he even kept the manual.
You will have to remove the cover on the side the chain bar goes into. There should be one or two nuts holding the cover on the side. The is also a chain tension adjuster you may have to loosen to put it back on. Make note of the direction of the teeth on the chain. It is an directional chain. The tension adjuster is usually a flat head screw on the front side right beside the chain bar.Unless it is a really old saw, manuals are available from most manufacturers for free download. See if you can locate a brand name and model number.
The edger is not cutting very well. Any tips to make it work better?
You said cutting, not running, so I suggest removing the blade and sharpening on a grinder or buying a replacement blade.I hope you find this very helpful.
The mower deck clutch cable broke so blades will not engage and lever is loose on my Sears Craftsman 42-inch lawn tractor (917-271-742). I fished out the top piece of the cable, about 12 inches down to a rusty point where it broke. If I get the clutch kit (175067), which includes the cable, spring, etc., can I replace it from the top, or do I need a lift to get to the mover deck from the bottom? I do not have a lift or ramp that would work. What would I need to remove to get to the location where the cable/spring assembly hooks up to engage the blades?
I just got the kit 175067. Have the old one off except for where it’s attached to the lever, schedule and weather has kept me from going further. Very simple to reconnect things at the pulley and above but not too sure how to connect the rest onto the lever and haven’t had a chance to get a good look at how the old one might be connected yet. Should be a simple fix.
