The reasons why mower is not moving forward or reverse is that the battery is dead, or due to clogged fuel line. Additionally, malfunctioning transmission, or a broken drive belt, also a faulty spark plug, even when friction wheel isn`t in contact with the friction plate, or damaged Tires.
Failure of any mechanical component, a broken hose, or clogged filter will cause tractor hydrostatic transmission problems. But the most common issue will be the oil itself. In the transmission section of your operator`s manual, you`ll find a section that covers oil viscosity.
If your riding lawn mower won`t move, the problem could be a broken ground drive belt. If the riding mower is slow and sluggish, the ground drive belt could be so worn that it slips. Either way, follow the steps in this repair guide and video to replace the ground drive belt on your lawn tractor.
If one, or more, blades are not rotating, the cutting deck belt is worn out and needs to be replaced. This should be done by an authorised dealer.
Worn or broken blade drive belt – If the riding mower blades are not spinning, the blade drive belt may be worn or broken and unable to engage the blades. If the belt is intact, inspect it to see if it`s loose or slipping on the pulleys then replace it with a new one if necessary.
Grinding gears, starting and stopping during operation, and the wheels not rotating with the pulley are common signs that your mower`s transmission is breaking down.
One of the disadvantages of hydrostatic drives is that the majority of the oil stays in the loop and doesn`t return to the reservoir for cooling. One way to return some of the oil back to the tank is by using a hot oil shuttle valve.
If the PTO clutch is not getting power, if the clutch solenoid is defective, or if the clutch is worn out, the lawn mower blades will not engage. The PTO clutch is not repairable—if the clutch is defective, you must replace it.

Motion drive belt shredded. what direction do I turn the pulley bolt on the bottom of the crankshaft under the engine?
ANSWER : It is normally threaded, which is to say it has right hand threads. So you will need to turn left to loosen. You can take a block of wood to brace the blade or use vice grip pliers to block the blade. It wont start.
ANSWER : If it was stored with ethanol fuel on board your hoses may have holes or cracks as well. Inspect them carefully. It sounds as if there is a fuel delivery problem. Check the fuel filter on the free end of a hose in fuel tank (manufacturer recommends an annual replacement). Check all fuel delivery lines especially at fittings and bends for cracks and holes. If those are good then the likely cause is internal parts of the carburetor are dirty or have failed. HTH
