If the spark plug produces a spark and you are still having difficulties starting your chainsaw, it`s time to check the gap. The spark plug gap is an air gap between the ground electrode and the center electrode. If the gap is too small, the spark struggles to ignite the fuel and air mixture.
If your chainsaw still starts and then stops working, check the air filter. Clean or replace the air filter if it is dirty or damaged. Another reason that your chainsaw starts and then stops working could be that the spark arrestor is dirty or clogged. If this is the case, clean it with a wire brush.
A chainsaw`s carburetor mixes air and fuel to start the internal combustion engine. If fuel has been left in the engine for too long, it can become sticky and clog the carburetor, preventing it from starting. If the clog is minor, clean out the carburetor.
A dirty carburetor, bad gasoline and low-quality two-stroke oil that creates deposits all contribute to chainsaw starting problems.
With the choke in the “off” position, pull the engine`s crank cord through again. The engine should start in 1 to 3 pulls. Try it first without using the throttle control—unless recommended by the manufacturer.
There are many factors that can stop your chainsaw from running, including a bad spark plug or dirty air filter. There are simple problems: a broken fuel line, bad fuel, wrongly calibrated high-low adjustment screw. Also, more complex issues like a damaged carburettor or an engine compression problem.
There could be various causes: incorrect fuel mixture, carburation not calibrated properly, or a wet spark plug. In spite of their power and robustness, chainsaws are actually rather delicate machines that require careful and precise maintenance at every stage of their life cycle.
To make pulling the cord easier, shift the lawnmower height up to start the machine, then lower it back down to your desired grass height to begin cutting.
Get to work faster. Smart Start is Husqvarna`s name for the technology that evens out the increase of momentum that develops when the piston reaches its highest level. This makes it easier to pull the starter rope, which – in the long run – saves both time and money for you and your business.
The Fix – Remove your air filter and drop a shot of MIXED gas into the carburetor intake (about a thimble full). Now go ahead and start your saw in the usual way. Your saw will likely start on the second pull but then stall. Just repeat the process until the saw runs smoothly.
Smart Start is one of Husqvarna`s unique technology because when their chainsaws are installed with it, it means it`s extremely easy to start.
