How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The model number of a Husqvarna chainsaw is printed on the side of the recoil assembly on the unit(eg. 455, 460, 372 XP). Husqvarna chainsaws also have a small metal plate stamped with the model number, part number, and serial number.
The Husqvarna Group (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈhʉ̂ːsˌkvɑːɳa ˈɡruːp]) is a Swedish manufacturer of outdoor power products including robotic lawn mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, brushcutters, cultivators, and garden tractors.
Stihl tends to offer a wider variety of smaller, lighter-weight models geared towards homeowners, while Husqvarna has traditionally specialized in commercial-grade chainsaws with more features and larger gas tanks for continual use.
One of the most important chainsaw safety features is the chain brake, which stops movement of the chain in the event of kickback during operation. The chain brake is activated when the front hand guard, located near the saw`s upper handle, moves rapidly toward the chainsaw operator.
The first two digits are the year 05 = 2005. The next two digits are the week 42 = 42 week of the year. The next five digits are the sequential production = 00362 how many units produced. Click here for a comprehensive list of how to find model and serial number format on all Husqvarna products.

Chainsaw is new but chain will not move. Is there a safety feature causing this, or what is the problem?
ANSWER : All machines today will have a chainbrake, this is normally a band that comes around the clutch drum to stop the chain in the event of a kick back, to unlock the brake, pull the hand guard fully back to the top handle until you hear the click of the brake loading, there will be an amount of force required to pull the guard back.

I just started up my new 16″ Homelite and the engine starts, but the mechanism that powers the chainsaw isn’t rotating… any suggestions?
ANSWER : The engine needs to be accelerated to make the chain turn. The chain should not be so tight on the bar that you can’t turn it by hand. Make sure the chain brake is off by pulling back on the brake paddle which has a ‘toggle’ effect–it should snap over to the new position. If still having problems, it is time to return for warranty exchange or repair. Hope this helps!

Trouble with all three of my old Poulan Chainsaws. After starting and attempting to cut, chains either keep getting loose or very tight and stalls chainsaw. Would you think bent bar or dull chains? Thanks…Chuck

You can have chains sharpened.
Just because you added oil does not mean it is getting to the bar. Your manual shoul explain how to test.
Chain Adjustment

Make sure the chain brake is off (gloves will protest your fingers).
If necessary, loosen the bar nuts that are clamping the clutch cover in place (or whatever holds the clutch cover and bar on). They do not need these really loose – finger tight will do.
Ease the tension adjustment until the chain is obviously loose.
Using one hand, hold the nose of the bar up.
While holding the nose up, adjust the tensioner so that the center of the chain just touches the underside of the bar, add a touch more.
Continue holding the nose of the bar up & tighten up the bar nuts / bolts / quick-release system. HTH

Just got MCC4516F chainsaw.Used it for 30 mins. Stopped working. Chain brake does not engage or release. Chain does not move. Motor runs but will not engage to make blade move. Seems like chain brake handle does nothing.
ANSWER : You have obviously jammed or broken the chain on the inside of the motor. Take it to be repaired, or try reparing yourself by opening up the engine casing yourself.

My micro xxv has been idle for several years, now I ‘d like to get it going again. Do I need to do more than fresh fuel?
ANSWER : Absolutely! Check to make sure that you are getting fire at the plug before moving on to my Tips. If you don’t get spark at the plug, then you have a bad Ignition Coil (Module).

Here are a couple of my Tips that you will definitely need to check: http://www.fixya.com/support/r6078121-fuel_line_relacement_trimmer_weedeater
