Push line into holes until line feeds through eyelets on side of housing. Push line into holes feeding through eyelets on side of housing until equal length on both sides. Hold housing securely and turn spool clockwise to wind line into spool.
Yes it is! Makita has launched an improved version of. the string trimmer head without the need to dismantle.
Fixed head systems use individual lengths of line that are loaded or threaded into the trimmer one at a time as needed. This avoids some of the hassles of winding line onto trimmer heads and makes the overall process of dealing with trimmer line less cumbersome.
If the drive shaft is broken, the string trimmer head won`t spin. The drive shaft is not repairable—if the drive shaft is broken, you must replace it. Need help finding your model number? If the threads on the drive shaft are stripped, the trimmer head will not stay on the shaft.
The . 065” diameter line is ideal for use with battery powered equipment, including Makita 18V and 18V X2 LXT string trimmers. It has approximately 99 feet (30 meters) of spiral line, and is constructed with durable nylon for efficient grass trimming.
Most gas-powered string trimmers use 2 stroke engines. More recently, however, a couple of manufacturers have released 4 stroke products that promise several key advantages. Since both ultimately get the job done, consumers have asked us about the difference between 2 stroke vs 4 stroke engines.
Twisted trimmer line is an improvement upon standard round line. The twisted shape gives twisted trimmer line a bit of an edge in comparison to round. Trimmer line shapes that have edges are sharper. The edges that square and 5-point trimmer lines have allow the lines to actually slice through grass and weeds.
String trimmer line comes in a variety of shapes: round, twisted, square, star shaped, and serrated. Rounded line is the most common type available, but it because it lacks a cutting edge, it rips the grass rather than cutting it. Twisted line is a bit better, as the shape has a little more of a cutting edge to it.
Most styles and weights are interchangeable, so you can use non-OEM (original equipment manufacturers) line. However, larger/heavier line may not fit every string trimmer. Replace old trimmer line every spring. It could turn brittle over the cold winter and break more easily.
The clutch engages the clutch pads to spin the trimmer head. If the clutch assembly is defective, the clutch will not disengage the clutch pads, and the trimmer head will continue to spin, even at low speeds. If the clutch is defective, replace it.
String trimmer line should be replaced at the start of each season as old line can be brittle and lead to easy breaks. Line may wear down faster if you`re cutting thick weeds or against hard surfaces. The traditional bump head has a round, black cutting head with a spring loaded knob in the center.
If the drive shaft is broken, the string trimmer head won`t spin. The drive shaft is not repairable—if the drive shaft is broken, you must replace it. Need help finding your model number? If the threads on the drive shaft are stripped, the trimmer head will not stay on the shaft.
The following are some procedures and observations on what we believe to be the best methods of handling straight shaft trimmers. 1) Most straight shaft trimmers spin their string counter clockwise.

ANSWER : Often it’s the easiest thing that stump us. Try changing the spark plug first. Sometimes a spark plug just won’t fire under load, i.e., while it’s in the cylinder but will spark if you have it removed. There are checkers for this, but it’s a lot less expensive to just replace the spark plug. Do that first and let me know.

I need to replace to fuel lines on a Craftman 32cc trimmer. The old ones cracked apart. 2 of the lines look like 1/8″ OD one line looks like 3/32″ OD. Larger line looks like it hooks to filter, Smaller line to a fitting in the gas tank. I am assuming the smaller line ges to the primer inlet. My question is the lines penetrate the bottom of the gas tank. How do they seal. How do I install the filter and the fitting. I am assuming to thread the new lines in from the bottom of the tank and pull through the gas cap hole. Then I attach filter or fitting and pull back through. So do I pull the line so as to create a seal from the swell caused by the fitting/filter?
ANSWER : Depending on the brand of line you use, Tygon line is self sealing but seems to shrink faster then factory supplied because of the ethanol in the gas. The stone gas filter is designed to fall to the lowest part of the tank, not stop the line from falling out.
