We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
Accurate fuel injection timing is set by fuel-cut-off method using swan neck pipe on number 1 delivery valve holder after removing the delivery valve spring and peg.
You can check the injection timing by measuring the injector pump`s stroke at TDC using a dial indicator.
It rotates at half crankshaft speed in a conventional four-stroke diesel engine. Its timing is such that the fuel is injected only very slightly before top dead centre of that cylinder`s compression stroke.
Spark plugs and fuel injectors are timed and synchronized with the help of engine control unit. This takes the input from various sensors and later uses them to calculate the optimum injector timing/pulse width and the spark timing for the current speed of your engine or the load condition.
A fuel injector firing
The amount of fuel supplied to the engine is determined by the amount of time the fuel injector stays open. This is called the pulse width, and it is controlled by the ECU.
The amount of time an injector is turned on to delivering fuel is known as injector duty cycle. This is measured as a percent, so 50% duty cycle indicates that the injector is held open and held closed for an equal amount of time.
So why is a fuel injection pump and its timing important? The right amount of fuel and its timing are extremely critical because it regulates the combustion of fuel and the speed of the engine. Therefore, maintaining precise timing is important every time the timing belt of an engine has been replaced or adjusted.
Injection timing is the instant of entering the diesel fuel into the cylinder during the burning process [8]. When altering the timing of fuel injection, therefore will lead to change the combustion timing, injection timing has a strong impact on combustion process injection pressure and engine emissions.
Required fuel pressure can vary depending on your vehicle`s engine and fuel system. Carbureted engines may require as little as 28 kPa (4 PSI), while modern multipoint fuel injected high-performance engines can require as much as 414 kPa (60 PSI).
The fuel pump relay is controlled by the PCM by providing the relay with a ground. The PCM chooses to turn the relay on when it sees the motor is running. If the PCM doesn`t see an indication of the motor running, it will not supply a ground path to the relay and the fuel pump will not receive power.
The fuel injection rate is controlled by an ECU, which calculates the amount of fuel to be injected based on the signals from the sensor that detects the amount of air intake and controls the length of time to keep the fuel injection valves (injectors) open.

To adjust your timing, all you need to do is turn the distributor housing one direction or the other, depending on whether or not you want to advance or move back the timing. If the rotor turns clockwise, you`ll advance the timing by rotating the distributor counterclockwise, and vice versa.
The piston in the pump has two cycles, suction and compression. The solenoid on the side of the pump controls how much fuel is compressed during the compression stroke. During the suction cycle, the solenoid will allow fuel from the low-pressure side of the fuel system to enter the pump.

ANSWER : Use a pressure gauge to check pressure at the rail. Change fuel filter. Replace fuel pump if needed.
Why will my1994 bravada not start?
ANSWER : Very possible your new pump went out again, or was not installed correctly. Check fuel pressure. If you know electrical you can jumper the relay to run the pump. On some GM models I have seen a test wire for the pump underhood.
Fuel tank fuel pump is weak and tractor will run at times and other times will not start 6400 john deere tractor.
ANSWER : Have you tried giving it a good tuneup?
Sump pump hums and then kicks breaker. Will not pump. I cleaned everything, still have problem
ANSWER : Pump motor is jammed causing overload and resulting breaker trip. Try to turn the pump shaft by hand, it should be very easy to turn. If there’s any resistance check for blockage.
I have a 1/2 horse wayne shallow well pump. At times the water in the house slows to a trickel. This will happen for about 40-120 seconds then the pump seems to kick on and the pressure is restored. I have replaced the high low switch and the problem persists. Please let me know any thoughts on the problem. Thank You
ANSWER : Check air in your water tank should be less than you’re cut in pressure..
I have a pressure booster pump installed which turns on automatically when we open the tap and turns off by itself when we close the tap, but when power goes and comes back(common in india), the pump will turn on even with no tap opened and does not turn off automatically and goes on running, some kind of airlock problem I think, when we just shut off and on water input several times, it again starts working well
ANSWER : Check to see if the output pipe has water in it when the pump swutches off the pump needs to be primed at all time what we normally find cases like this is the pump is higher than the supply or there is an air pocket on the output where the pressure sensor is
We have a Flotec 3/4 HP submersible pump, it was already here when we moved in, we have lived here for 3 yrs, so we dont know how old it is. After living here for 2 yrs, it started to get very noisy, like a groaning noise. We replaced it w/ a l/2 HP Wayne(our mistake) We got water in the basement b/c the wayne pump quit running. We put the Flotec back on. Trying to find a replacement, but stores are all out. Question is, do you think we can rely on the Flotec that is making the strange noises? Thanks, Chris
ANSWER : Take strainer off to see if fravel stucj. if not, motor bearing may be shot. I would replace. I like wayne.
My pool pump makes a buzzing noise but there is no water circulating into the pool and no suction what-soever. What could be the problem?
ANSWER : First, Check your voltage at the terminal with a voltmeter. If it is within 10% of what is stated on the name plate, try the following suggestions. If is is more than 10% off, call an electrician. Common problems that cause this humming with no suction in these pool pumps are:-Take the pump apart and look for rubbing that could be causing your pump to tighten up. -Check for a seized motor. If the motor has seized up, you will have to have it repaired or replaced.-It could be a winding switch or capacitor problem. Again, a pro will have to service it.
