How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Lubricate the chainsaw

When you put the chain back onto your chainsaw, you will have to lubricate it to clean it, using WD-40® Multi-Use Product. Before refitting the chain into the chainsaw, wipe off all the excess residue and then reattach it to the guide bar.

The oil should be mixed in a ratio of 50:1, meaning 50 parts petrol to 1 part oil.
Removing the chain

Find the quick link on your chain. It is distinguished by its gaps near the chain pins. Take the quick link pliers and fit each end on either side of the quick link. Squeeze the pliers together and the chain should separate.

Use for lubricating moving parts, pivot points and bearings. Lubricate small to larger motors found in sewing machines, fans, lawnmowers and trimmers, drills, chainsaws, and other tools.
Olive oil can also work as a WD-40 replacement for metal or plastic areas that need loosening. Plus, its light scent makes it a good choice for applications that might be sensitive to odor. Like vegetable oil, wherever it`s applied may call it to become a dust magnet, as well as being sticky.
With a pair of pliers in your dominant hand, grip one side of the chain at about 3 o`clock. Grip the opposite side of the link with a second pair of pliers in your other hand. Pull your dominant hand towards you and your other hand away from you until the link opens.

Why will my saw not start, good spark new plug fresh gas
ANSWER : Sounds to me like a plugged up fuel line or old fuel in the fuel line. You may be able to clear it by spraying some starting fluid into the carb to pull the old fuel through. You only want to do this 2 times because this has no oil in it. Another suggestion it to remove the spark plug and put some of your fresh fuel mix directly into the chamber. About an eyedropper full should work.

I have a Makita chainsaw and have forgotten what kind of oil it takes
ANSWER : Use regular bar and chain oil for the oil tank. Use modern synthetic saw oil for the fuel mix. Both are available from home centers, hardware stores, and saw dealers. Be sure to premix the fuel and oil in it’s own can and agitate thoroughly before refueling the saw. Hope this helps!
