Hi almost all battery packs can be made up from single cells, you need to obtain single cells with Tags, on them, these tags can then be joined together, either a compression fit, or a Solder Join, whatever is easiest.

It is easy to take the Old Packs apart and copy how they are made, using individually purchased Cells.Always remove the “Electronics” (If OK, replace if not) inside the Old Packs, for connection and use in the new ones.

The Cells are usually 1.2 V each Cell, so you simply need as many cells as there are in your required output, so if you need 19.2 V you would need, 16 Cells. Now it is the INDIVIDUAL AMP-HOUR rating of each battery that determines the Output. Often Cells are paralleled up and series, linked to achieve the required Voltage and Amp hour rating.

So in actual fact one may need 36 cells in a paralled series arrangement to get the required Current output.

However all one has to do is dissemble an Old pack, and replicate how it’s been constructed, also usually there are “Chips” INSIDE the battery packs, these need to be migrated to the NEW battery pack.

Often too there are DIODES used to prevent current flow between “Cells” each arrangement is then called a Cell.

The reason that batteries fail is usually due to the fact, that one or more of the individual Cells, goes faulty,and allows current to flow in a reverse direction, this then eventually ruins the Battery “Pack”. Which is why they all eventually fail after a while.

To increase the capacity, as related often a battery pack, will have some Cells in a parallel series arrangement to achieve the Voltage/Current rating of the battery pack.
One simply arranges the “Cells” into the necessary, series parallel arrangement to achieve the required output, both Voltage and Current.

You can get Cells from places like Ebay, or any battery manufacturer. Always be careful as these battery cells can hold a very large amount of Energy, and can deliver a serious amount of current into any short circuits so be careful and thorough when dealing with them.

Ryobi troubleshooting Recently bought the two set package of 18V lithium batteries however the tool will not work. It was working however it has stopped . Tried two different batterie , both fully charged ,with no results.

ANSWER : Usually batteries are not covered under a warranty, IF they worked in the beginning. It has a lot to do how it was stored in the winter, it could have been your problem and not the batteries.

The battery on my Worx GT doesn’t seem to hold it’s charge. I have actually taken it directly off the charger when the light is green and it doesn’t have full power. Sometimes it does. The unit is 3 years old. Is this a normal life expectancy for the battery?

Battery?, wiring?? Had a recent problem with blades not engaging. I have had also had a slightly older issue of battery not holding charge so i have to boost or jump start mower. ANSWER : If your Alternator didn’t charging the battery, even though you brand new battery will not last. So there is two possible cause, 1) Your Alternator is not functioning. 2) there is a wiring problem that causing your battery to discharge easily, but you check it after you switch off the key remove the battery negative terminal then touch it back to batt term. and see if there is little blue spark, if does your wiring system got problem. If not, so your Alternator do not charge the battery.
