The self propelled just quit working. The front wheels don’t turn by t hemselves anymore. The mower has benn used about 15 times. It is a troybuilt self-propelled 21″ push mower.
Drive cable or drive belt could have broken
Troy bilt mower self propelled 21″. Belt has come off
Take the three screws out of the belt cover. One screw in behind each back wheel. The other is under the mower near the shaft to blade. Remove the tension spring off the transmission. Then remove blade and the cover comes off. You then can put the belt back on. Sounds like fun don’t it!
No tnesion presnet when I squeeze the handle.

Remove the cover from the self propel and check the engagement cable for excessive stretch.
Also check the drive belt for wear or breakage.

Is it possible that the belt has come off or has broken? May have to take a shield off or look underneath. Be sure to use extreme care not to put hands under the mower unless the spark plug wire is disconnected.
What Oil do I put in a Troy Bilt xp series mower
They recommend using only SAE 30 oil or 5W-30 if you choose to use synthetic. Be careful. Most smaller mower engines only require about 20-21 oz. The Honda engine may use more. See gauge on side of oil bottle.
