How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

The PTO (or power take-off) belt is part of a pulley system that operates the blades on your riding lawn mower. It runs off the electric clutch system in your engine.
If the PTO clutch is not getting power, if the clutch solenoid is defective, or if the clutch is worn out, the lawn mower blades will not engage. The PTO clutch is not repairable—if the clutch is defective, you must replace it.
Power take-offs (PTOs) are an attachment connected to large vehicles (such as trucks, harvesters and tractors) as a power source for a range of accessories including mowers, wood chippers, water pumps, compressors, and a range of farm equipment like balers. PTOs convert the rotating engine power into hydraulic power.

The pto on my cub cadet 1515 cuts off. It will
ANSWER : Mine does the same thing. I’ve found that normally this is a heat-related problem and by removing all the clippings from the deck the blades will re-engage just fine until (unless) the clippings mount up again. Hope this helps; I make sure the deck is clean top and bottom before I mow.

I have a cub cadet 2165 I just put in a new battery and it is slow turning over any ideas?
ANSWER : If battery is good and everything is hooked up right. Most likely could be the pto clutch bearing. Not the bearing on the pulley but on the clutch inside. Had the same problem, took the spark plugs out got it free. Turned over easy with plugs out, Started right up after and then burned up my bearing. Don’t burn up bearing. If do field assy. For that is 200$ if you can get away with just that. Otherwise 350-400$ for full assy.

I have a electric pto that come off a cub cadet and the part number of the pto is 5219-25 its a warner. My question is one of the wires have pulled loose in side the magnet are there any way to remove the magnet or take the pto apart? the wire is broke off inside the magnet. Thank you
ANSWER : Most likely you cannot repair this as the wire ususally breaks off inside. If you remove the assembly, you can see where the wires go into the potted coil. If there is no excess wire to reconnect to then your only choice is to replace.
