How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
There`s no magic pill for increasing height. In fact, your genes are the major determinant of how tall you`ll be. Most teens can expect to grow a total of about 7 to 10 inches during puberty before they reach their full adult height.
SOMATROPIN (soe ma TROE pin) is a man-made growth hormone. Growth hormone helps children grow taller and helps adults and children grow muscle. It is used to treat many conditions of low growth hormone levels, growth failure, and short stature.
Increasing your height after 18 is not possible, even through nutrition and exercise, because the growth plates stop growing. The growth plates (epiphyseal plates) are present at the end of long bones.
The answer is short and clear: no. Pills, medications, and supplements that claim to help people grow taller after puberty are often ineffective and can even be harmful.
Somatropin. Somatropin is a synthetic human growth hormone, prescribed for growth hormone deficiency and turner syndrome. Does Yoga help you grow Taller?
Vitamin D and calcium are essential for growth. Deficiency in vitamin D can result in low height gain. Getting adequate calcium is also important, particularly during puberty.
An adult cannot increase their height after the growth plates close. However, there are plenty of ways a person can improve their posture to look taller.
Growth charts show that majority of guys grow just a little after the ages of 18. In rare cases, some people may hit puberty in their late teens and continue to grow into their early twenties. The reason most guys stop growing at this age is because their growth plates fuse shortly after puberty.
Age is obviously a primary criterion in determining if it is possible to grow 10 cm or more. Growth is generally considered to be completed around the age of twenty, at which time the growth plates close. Then it is no longer possible to grow naturally.
Most girls stop growing taller by age 14 or 15. In contrast, after their early teenage growth spurt, boys continue gaining height at a gradual pace until around 18. Note that some kids will stop growing earlier and others may keep growing a few years more.
A single night of no sleep will not stunt growth. But over the long term, a person`s growth may be affected by not getting the full amount of sleep. That`s because growth hormone is normally released during sleep.
Height increases up to the age of 18 in women and up to the age of 24 in men. It is rather difficult to increase height after reaching adulthood as the production of these hormones slowly stops. Growth is controlled by hormones like human growth hormone (HGH), thyroid hormones, and sex hormones.
The main advantages of using TruHeight are that it is effective in improving bone density and strength, and it has a positive reputation. While there is no guarantee that taking Truheight will lead to significant height gains, the ingredients are safe and have numerous other health benefits.
The Endocrine Society do not recommend HGH injections for adults or children unless they have a growth hormone deficiency.
“Stretching does not make you taller, but it can help in improving flexibility and posture, which can make someone seem taller,” Hashish said. “For instance, if someone slouches, they may appear shorter than when they stand upright with more extension.”
However, once the growth plates in the bones close, a person will generally not grow any taller. Most females reach their full adult height aged 14–16 years. Most males reach their full height by the age of 16–18 years. It is very unusual for a person to grow after the age of 18 years.
The growth spurt of boys is, on average, about 2 years later than that of girls. By age 16, most boys have stopped growing, but their muscles will continue to develop.
Older adults may also take supplements like Vitamin D or calcium to negate the risks associated with age-related height loss. As mentioned above, adults cannot increase their height during adulthood.

I have fragment shards inside my grow light can i still use it or is it unsafe which im guessing it is ?
Yes it is most likely unsafe. It depends on which glass is broken, HID lamps often continue to operate when cracked or broken, resulting in emissions of harmful levels of ultraviolet (UV) radiation
I bought a stihl ms 660 chainsaw used with a 32 inch bar and chain. i ran it before i bought it and was good. then i started using it maybe 5-10 minutes and it died. i tried starting it again and took real long time and when it did start it didnt idle but died again. i took to repair shop and they said it was a scorched piston and cylinder. i paid $ 470 to get the piston and cylinder replaced. i was told by repairman to warm saw for about a minute before i go full throttle. i used the saw for about 3 tankfuls and the same thing happened again. i took back to repair shop and they said same thing happened and they are repairing it for free this time on the warranty. i use 89 octane fresh gasoline with ethanol, 50:1 oil mixture, and add fuel stabilizer. i was using echo synthetic blend oil and was told to use stihl high performance oil which i now do. what am i doing wrong? why is only one side of piston being scorched?
They will score one side of the piston because of the heat. Its always on the exuast side.It could be the carb is adjusted to lean that makes it run hot.The muffler might need a good cleaning too?If it gets plugged up it will run hot too?It sounds like you gas and oil are mixed right.Thats about the only thing that will do it besides straight gas run in it.Could be the shop tec doesen’t know how to adjust the carb?I would ask the to make sure its adjusted right. And not to lean.If its any kind of shop someone there should know how to do it right. When you get it back try running it wide open it should do whats called 4 stroke when not cutting wood then smoothe out while cutting. If you hold it about wide open and it runs fine. Its not right. If it does you need to open the high side of the carb a little.Maby a 1/4 turn at most.Just untill its getting to much gas to run smoothe.I hope they fix it right this time.Thats a very nice saw!
I have an old (25-30 years) JC Penney tiller. The rubber has come off the drive pulley. It should be sort of like the rubber drive on the Snapper mower. There is a pulley used for connecting to the tines on the outside of this drive pulley. I can’t get either off using a puller. I wondered if there was some way that the fine threaded bolt used to go though the bearing was the way to get it off–by using a longer fine threaded bolt that would push against theshaft on the insider and push the pully off by tigthening that bolt. When I try to use a puller, it just bends the pulley on the outside in the three places where the puller puts pressure.
Hi,The way to get old stuff like that off is this….Use a torch… oxy-actelelyene if possible but a small map gas torch will work, just takes longer….heat the hub of the pulley but not the shaft till it glows red if possible… the hotter the better…of course not melting it..Then walk away from the thing and let it cool down… then if possible turn it with the shaft up and soak it down with PB Blaster or another good quality penetrating spray….then let it soak in for 24 hours…Then take a large pin or bar and a big hammer and rap the hub towards the outside of the shaft,,,if you have already swelled the shaft, you may have to file it down so the pulley can come off…a few raps with the hammer and the pulley will start to move…then lubricate ahead of it as you hammer it off the shaft….You could also apply some pressure with the puller before you rap on the backside… any and all pressure will help…I have used this method to remove pulleys from fans used in pig barns many times and is the best way I have found to remove them…patience is the key…heatman101
I have kukuyu grass growing around my vegetable patch and I want to kill a patch of grass 30cm around the veg patch. What proportion of roundup should I use per litre and will it affect the vegetables?
Using the standard 10ml of Roundup per litre of water you can kill the grass without harming your vegetables. I would spray only on a nice calm day and use a piece of cardboard to block any over spray from reaching your veggies. Roundup works through absorption by leaves so transfer by groundwater is not a concern. Also remember more is not better with Roundup, too much just kills the leaves before they can absorb the toxin and kill the root.
Regarding a saniflo macerator installation, this is my second post in the last couple of days. Installation was done by a licensed plumber. Brief background: after the installation was complete, the pump appeared to very noisey to me; when the sink ran, the toilet gurgled and vice versa when the toilet was flushed; also, I saw that the plumber had used several short elbows on the discharge pipe as follows doing initially a horizontal run from the macerator discharge outlet of some 18 inches then vertically up about 30 inches then horizontally some 20 inches and again vertically going down to connect to a Y on the hanging sewer line. Also the discharge line is not strapped, and vibrates/moves as the macerator is engaged. At the time of my first post, I did not realize that he had used an Oatey AAV for venting purposes. Based on the responses from FixYa on my first post, I did some more research on this installation. Also spoke with a tech from Saniflo a couple of times. The configuration of the discharge as currently in place appears to be a major problem. From what I now understand, the discharge should come out the macerator on an elbow going vertically then into a bend horizontally into a Y connection on the sewer line. Am I understanding this correctly and is this the way that the plumber should remediate his prior discharge install? According to Saniflo and another plumber that I talked with, the AAV or any mechanical device cannot be used to vent the Sanibest macerator. I have an unused side wall vent (3″ PVC pipe) at the corner of the basement about 4-5 feet from the macerator. I was told that I could use that to vent the macerator correctly or I could tie into the vent pipe that vents my kitchen sink. That vent pipe is about 8 feet downstream from the macerator, not the best location but accessible. Do either of these vent locations appear viable to use? Last but not least, is there any other venting that needs to be in place with the sink and toilet that run into the macerator? I would like to hear back on these questions from someone who has some definitive experience with these Sanibest installs. I appreciated the prior responses from my first post because they started to point me in the right direction. I want to be as informed as possible when the plumber comes back to remediate this original install. Thanks much.
Here you can find the recommended installation instructionshttp://www.saniflo.co.uk/pdf/install/SANIBEST.pdfTo put it simply the venting in your installation has been done incorrectly and the fact that the pipes were left unsecured to the wall should have been the giveaway – that plumber was just a hack.Yes, if the Y discharge is considerably lower than the macerator the AAV must be used. But only in this case – in all the others its unnecessary. You never said were this aerator is situated but it appears that (since you hear gurgling), it’s not at the top of the loop where it should be.Yes, you could use that extra vent. No, no extra venting should be used – the proper installation is explained in the diagrams on the link above at page 4.Yes, call another plumber to do the install properly.
One of my two hps bulbs is brighter than the other one the bulbs and one of the ballast are new the other ballast is a year old
Hi .. it could be the ballast .. an easy thing to do to troubleshoot this would be to swap the lamps. If the problem follows the lamp. then that is the problem. If the pronblem stays with the fixture, then I would replace the ballast in that fixture.
Using algaecure for my self-contained water garden w/fish yesterday.
How long do I wait for results? How often can I use it?
If not helping, do I use more? Do I drain, clean rocks& inside of ceramic cntr.? What do I use to clean these?
Any and all assistance/instructions will help. Thanks.
