Burner doesn't light, tank does have diesel in.
Experienced gardeners share their insights in answering this question :
There are litterally two hands-full of faults that can cause one of these to not burn. There are both mechanical and electrical parts that can fail. And some of these systems work on 12 volts DC power, while others work on 120/240 volts AC power. If you have pretty much no understanding of these systems, I would suggest letting a pro handle it – mostly because AC voltage can be dangerous, and event he DC powered ones can bite harder than one might think (the igniter coil puts out anywhere from 8,000 to 15,000 volts! It is low amperes so not likely to kill you; just make you wish you were dead for about 5 minutes). That said, I will rattle off some of the typical reasons for no-light. Usually, these systems use a “solinoid valve” to turn the deisel on-off. The solinoid valve (sv) in turn is electrically upline from either a pressure switch, flow switch or vacuum switch. So, the sv cannot function if the pressure/flow is not where it should be — or — if the p/f/v switch has gone bad. There is also either a thermostat or limit switch in this same circuit. Notice, at this point, one has to determine if the pressure and flow are what they should be. If there are problems with those parameters, then that is another two hands-full of possible causes/reasons to diagnose and repair! Fuel filters are a big one. I’ve seen people think they are putting diesel into the tank, but put something else like soap or gas. Believe it or not, gas generally will not light. But it can and that is very dangerous! The fuel pump itself could be bad (usually due to running moisture (condensate) though it, or a foreign material, like soap/degreaser.The electric motor that spins the fuel pump and blower wheel could be bad, or the overload breaker on it could have tripped out. That’s the most common stuff I see. There are other things as well. But it gets so technical that there is not really anything gained from trying to explain in this format. I hope I have helped you. If so, please take a few seconds a rate me. Thanks!Don
How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?
We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :
The main problems that could impact a proper ignition are incorrect gapping of electrodes, and cracked electrodes. If these parts are working properly and you still do not have a spark, it could be the result of a bad E-M-F ignition coil.
The Fuse. If the pressure washer does not start, then the first thing to check is the fuse in the plug. The reading you`re looking for is the same as it would be when connecting the two probes of the multimeter together (as you can see in the example of this video, this fuse is actually fine).
Burner Assembly – a device for converting fuel to heat energy – heating water for the pressure washer. Cone Assembly – a cone-shaped area in the combustion chamber that helps distribute air and fuel.
If it`s not clean or adjusted properly, the pressure washer burner won`t ignite. The first thing you need to do is loosen the screws, pivot the igniter back, and take the fuel line and the retaining nut off to allow the electrode to come out of the burner box for inspection.
There are 2 fuses for the wiper/washer system. If your windshield wipers work, then they are both good. One fuse is located in the under-hood fuse block (wiper fuse #14 , 25amp). The second fuse is located on the body control module, which is located inside the center console, behind the panel on the right side of it.
It Can Harm The Unit Without water to cool and lubricate it, the pump will work harder than it should, causing it to wear down quickly. This can happen even with just a few seconds of running the pressure washer without the water being turned on. However, the pump is not the only part that takes damage.
Burners work by mixing together air and fuel to create an efficient flame inside of the boiler. The style of burner and fuel availability will determine which fuel you use, but it is commonly one of the following: Natural Gas. Propane.
The high-pressure burner consists of three concentric porous metal plates that feed gas mixtures of different composition into the burner housing. The inner burner (supplied with C2H4+ air, rich, premixed) generates the sooting flame of interest.
Burner Controller is a device that is responsible for the safe startup, operation, and shutdown of more than one burner or boiler. Its main function is to monitor and control the main burners, utilize flame scanner to detect and discriminate between the main flames and igniters.
One of the most common causes for weak or uneven flames on your gas cooktop is because the burner head has grown dirty. It is something that can easily happen over time. The burner head is surrounded by small slots that allow the gas to be let out and ignited to produce flames.
Check the spark plugs first and ensure that the wire connecting them isn`t loose. Check the level of fuel. Be sure to use the correct fuel type for your washer. If you`re using a washer powered by natural gas, be sure the flow of gas isn`t restricted and that the gas is turned on.
If your pressure washer is not starting, one issue could be a clogged carburetor. Old fuel, dirt, or debris can clog a carburetor, and simply leaving fuel in the pressure washer for too long can lead to a clogged carburetor too.

Mower won’t start
ANSWER : This may sound stupid but don’t mean it to…
Have you tried with the choke all the way open? Do you have an automatic cruise? Is the right (correct) pedal being pushed in? These will affect if it starts or not. Also if your drive belt or one of the other belts not being tight enough will affect if it starts or just turns over. Not too many things can stope it from starting with new/good battery AND if its getting gas. Try cleaning your gas line and obviously making sure there is no obstruction around or near your blade, if it does start with blade engaged that is :))
If it doesn’t start with blade engaged, well make sure it’s in neutral. Mine won’t start in reverse but will in forward or neutral.
Hope it helps.

Power washer won't start – Briggs & Stratton Power Products 1539 Pressure Washer
ANSWER : Have you checked for spark? You can remove the plug, touch it against the block and crank it and see if you have any spark (best done in as dark a place as possible). If you don’t have spark, start by replacing the plug.
If you have spark, you can spray some starter fluid or gas into the cylinder, replace the plug and try to start it. If it runs for a few second, then you have fuel flow problem (dirty carb or filter, etc.).
Hope these basic tips get you going in the right direction.

Need help in getting Honda engine on NorthStar pressure washer to run.
ANSWER : Could be low water pressure I have found. Also, I purchased a can of “stuff” at Lowes today which allows you to circulate a liquid substance which lubricates the pressure pump….the pump could be frozen up…I have a rotating nozzle which I bought…and it had frozen up…this stuff works
McCullock Powerwasher FHH18A – All hooked up, but pump won’t turn on. Is there another switch/button somewhere?
ANSWER : Look for 2 things.
1. the GFCI button on the plug, you may have to press the ‘reset’ button to turn it on.
2. there may be a reset button on the motor or the unit somewhere this will usually be round, and often red, but maybe black also.
hope this helps
