How to Identify and Fix Common Gardening Problems ?

We provide a variety of viewpoints on how to identify and fix common gardening problems. Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced gardeners :

Adjusting Idle Screw

1 – When the saw is warm and not running, turn the adjusting screw in (clockwise) a half turn, start the saw, repeat this process until the saw idles. 2 – The saw now idles, great! But it should idle without the chain moving.

The letters on the screws represent High (H), Low (L) and Idle (T). The H screw regulates the Air/Fuel mix during high RPMs, while the L Screw does the same during low RPMs. The T screw regulates how much fuel is sent to the carburettor while idling until the throttle is pressed.
To fix the problem, start by draining the gas tank.

Replace the old gas with a fresh mix of gas, being sure to add a stabilizer to keep the ethanol from gelling. Often, just getting fresh gas and stabilizer through the chainsaw`s fuel system may correct the saw and it should stay running.

Turn the idle screw to adjust the idle—turn the screw to the left to increase the RPM or to the right to lower it. When you have adjusted the idle—aim for 650 RPM—reconnect the idle air adjustment valve`s electrical connection. Lower the hood and turn your car off.
On the exhaust or down stroke, it expels exhaust out of the muffler. Chain saw engines run at approximately 12,000 RPM, which means the crankshaft does 12,000 revolutions per minute and for every revolution of the crankshaft the piston does an upstroke and down stroke and the saw draws in and expels air on each stroke.

With the engine at normal operating temperature, adjust all the idle mixture screws until the engine idles at the desired rpm with the highest manifold vacuum. Once that`s achieved, lean the air-fuel mixture by adjusting the mixture screw clockwise a tiny amount for each adjustment screw.
If the filter becomes clogged, not enough fuel will reach the engine for it to run properly. Because your chainsaw will idle, but dies when it is revved up to full power, it means that the filter is only partially clogged; it will allow enough fuel to the engine to run on idle, but not enough to sustain full throttle.
