Most stators will be put out between 60 and 70 volts.

If your stator is putting out less than this, then it may be damaged and will need to be replaced. You can test the stator with a multimeter by checking the resistance between the two leads. If the resistance is too high, then the stator is most likely faulty [7].

If the stator is defective, the battery may overheat and require replacement. A multimeter is required for voltage measurement of a stator. The stator of a lawn mower should typically be at least 30 volts energized.
At idle, the voltage should be around 12-13V. At 3,000rpm, the voltage should be no more than 15V.
Some common signals to look out for are: zero/weak spark; dead/dim bike lights/charging lights/headlights; dead batteries or electric components; and lagging acceleration.
A good alternator should maintain battery voltage between 13.9 and 14.8 volts (14.2 is optimum). Even worst-case, with all accessories turned on, there should be at least 13 volts at the battery.
The stator is the coil of wire housed inside the engine case. A magnet on a shaft spins within the stator, creating alternating current (AC). That current travels along fairly heavy gauge wire through the case and into the rectifier/regulator which converts it to DC power, and at a consistent output.
Battery powered lawn mowers come with power range between 36 to 120 volts. Underpowered models may slow down the blade while cutting the grass, especially tough or thick grass/weed. The lawnmowers with higher voltage (like above 70 volts) can easily generate more power required for self-propelled wheels.
Standard Volts: Starting a car typically takes 12 power.

Most car models require at least 9 volts (about 40 per cent charge) of electricity to start, although some with more advanced electrical systems may require up to 11 or 12 volts.

Alternators power the small engine while it is running, keeping the battery charged by circulating power back back through the system. For the easiest alternator test, simply turn on the headlights to your lawn mower or outdoor power equipment.
While a stator is dying, it can produce a weak spark, causing the engine to miss or run poorly.
Therefore, to maintain the mechanical integrity (rigidity) of the stator windings of a generator, the neutral terminal of a standard generator should be grounded via an impedance.

The oil will not drain out of my craftsman 18 HP Briggs & Straton riding lawn mower. I unplug the drain cap. I took the dipstick out, but the oil will not drain out. 42′ Poulan 20 hp-I was mowing & there was a loud pop,mower ideled down & quit. It will turn over but won’t start.
ANSWER : Check compression, should be over 90psi to start. And check spark. The loud pop I am going to assume came from the exhaust, which if you lost spark would cause excess gas to ignite. Causes of no spark, bad coil, or defective and or damaged safty swith.
